Netflix’s original series and one of the most popular shows of the streaming platform Bridgerton is returning with Season 2. The first season was streamed in December 2021 and was a big hit that set a record 28 days after its release. The series is created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes.

Bridgerton Season 2 release date

Netflix has confirmed that Bridgerton has been renewed with season 2 which will be released on Netflix on March 25, 2022. Chris Van Dusen, the creator of the show confirmed on November 2021 that the show will be coming up with season 2 and in December 2021, Shonda Rhimes conveyed an update with Adweek that editing of the show is halfway done but the new season will not stream in January and February.

A tweet was also written in Lady Whistledown’s voice- “Dear readers, I know my absence has only made your hearts grow fonder; however, you will not have to wait much longer.”

Bridgerton Season 2 plot

Julia Quinn’s series consists of eight books focusing on the Bridgerton siblings- Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth.

The first season plot was from the first book The Duke and I and we can assume the second season from the second book The Viscount Who Loved Me is about Anthony portrayed by Jonathan Bailey. The season will follow Anthony’s love life and story with new entry Kate Sharma who is played by Simone Ashley.

Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page) were portrayed as the main characters in season one which will not be followed in Season 2. We can see Dynevor play Daphne as a supporting role in her Brother’s love story but Page who played Simon (called Duke) is out of the show which got confirmed in April 2021.

Jonathan Bailey will portray Anthony Bridgerton as the main role along with Simone Ashley the newcomer who will portray Kate Sharma.

Charithra Chandran will play Edwina Sharma who is Kate’s sister, Shelley Conn will portray Lady Mary Sharma who is Girl’s mother.

Will Daphne and Simon be seen in Bridgerton Season 2?

As the love story wrapped up in the first season, we will be seeing less of Daphne and Simon’s romance. In April 2021, Lady Whistledown wrote a letter in which it was written bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page which meant that he will be not be seen in the upcoming season. Daphne will be seen around the season along with his brother Anthony.

Even Phoebe Dynevor previously said, “There’s no such thing as a happy ending, is there? I think love’s always shifting and changing. So who knows? I’d like to see what happens next. And also, I’d like to see Daphne get involved in Anthony’s love life since he was so involved in hers.”

The actress also told The Wrap about Duke not being a part of Season 2 but will be remembered throughout the season.

Dynevor said, “I think he’ll be referred to a lot, I think we’ll see the baby. And we’ll just focus more on her relationship with the Bridgerton Family.”
