We Have A Ghost: All you need to know about the Netflix horror-comedy

We Have A Ghost

When introduced to the idea of a ghost film, it is expected to be full of jumpscares, screams, and crying in both the film and from the audience. But, Christopher Landon has decided to give the genre a modern twist for his soon-to-release Netflix project.

With the new film We Have A Ghost, up-and-coming horror filmmaker Christopher Landon, who previously wrote and directed horror successes like Happy Death Day 2U and last year’s Freaky, is giving the classic ghost narrative a family adventure twist.

Based on Geoff Manaugh’s fictional short story Ernest, which was published in 2017, the new film will follow a family who discovers, that they have a ghost living in their house. While most people would cry or scream at this knowledge, the family’s father begins to laugh, recording the ghost’s reaction in order to create a social media craze.

The film was reportedly being shot in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Back in November 2021, Landon had announced on Twitter that the shooting was wrapped up. The post was accompanied by a slate featuring the film’s on-set logo and a lovely ghost drawing for the titular character.

We Have A Ghost Release Date

There is currently no information about an official release date. With a scheduled completion period in 2021, it’s quite likely that the film will be released on Netflix in mid-to-late 2022.

We Have A Ghost Cast

The lineup of actors working on the upcoming film We Have A Ghost is impressive. Anthony Mackie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and David Harbour of Stranger Things, the latter of whom is a frequent collaborator with Netflix, lead the pack. Tig Notaro, who previously worked with Netflix on Army of the Dead, and Jennifer Coolidge, who is presently working in HBO’s new drama The White Lotus, are among the cast members.

Though there is no trailer out yet, the team has started to share stills from the film. We get to see a sneak-peek into Mackie’s first look and a few scenes from the movie in a short video shared by NetflixFilm which was later retweeted by Landon.

Although Mackie is most recognized for his action and sci-fi roles, he also has a strong sense of humor. With Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, he co-starred in The Night Before, a film about old friends reuniting on Christmas Eve to celebrate. They decide to make their lives as memorable as possible as their lives alter. In interviews, the actor has been known to joke about Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier, and their continuous, humorous beef with Tom Holland, who plays Spider-Man, is a running gag among fans.

Erica Ash (Survivor’s Remorse), Isabella Russo (School of Rock the Musical, Crashing), Niles Fitch (This Is Us), Faith Ford (Murphy Brown), and Steve Coulter (Shotgun Wedding) complete the cast.

As excited as fans are to learn when the film will be released, there is still a lot of speculation about who from the ensemble cast will play Ernest Borgnine doppelgänger. In the coming months, viewers will have to keep a lookout for more Landon and Netflix teases and announcements.
