There’s something about dog movies that somehow manages to make your brittle heart warm every time. What if we told you there’s a road trip comedy dog movie coming up?
Dog is a buddy comedy film starring Channing Tatum as Army Ranger Briggs, who is tasked with carrying Lulu, a rebellious Belgian Malinois, down the Pacific Coast to attend its owner’s funeral.
Tatum is co-directing Dog with Reid Carolin from a screenplay penned by Tatum himself, Carolin, and Brett Rodriguez. The best thing about the whole thing is that the script is inspired by his own dog, Lulu.

Dog movie plot: What is Dog about?
As the title intends, this is literally about a dog!
The plot revolves around former US Army Ranger Briggs, played by Tatum, who is charged with transporting Lulu, a military Belgian Malinois, to the funeral of Lulu’s previous owner, Sergeant Rodriguez. Briggs accepts the position in order to regain the favor of his superiors and reintegrate into the army, and the two do not get along at first. However, along the way, Briggs and Lulu form a remarkable connection and learn valuable lessons from one another.
Though the movie is completely not based on a true story, the dog named ‘Lulu’ in the movie is definitely named after Tatum’s beloved late dog, a pitbull Catahoula mix.
“I lost my puppy of 11 years, went on a road trip… She passed, like two days after I got back,” Tatum said in an interview with extra, “And it was at a time in my life where I, like, did not want to lose my best friend,” he added.

The official synopsis of the movie reads as follows:
“In this road-trip comedy, two hard-charging former Army Rangers paired against their will — Briggs (Channing Tatum) and a Belgian Malinois named Lulu — race down the Pacific Coast in hopes of making it to a fellow soldier’s funeral on time. Along the way, they’ll drive each other completely crazy, confront the possibility that pet psychics are real, and begin to reckon with the one thing they were trained never to do: surrender. ” (via MGM Studios)
Who is in the cast of the movie Dog?
Tatum will play the lead role as Briggs, with Q’orianka Kilcher co-starring as Niki, Briggs’ ex-partner and the mother of his three-year-old daughter. Other Dog cast members include Jane Adams as Tamara, Kevin Nash as Gus, Aqueela Zoll as Callan, and Nicole LaLiberte as Zoe.
