Universal is all set to release Firestarter which is an American science fiction supernatural horror film. On April 27, 2018, The Universal Pictures and Blumhouse productions announced the remake of Firestarter which was set to direct by Akiva Goldsman and produced by Jason Blum.
On June 28, 2018, Faith Akin replaced Goldsman as director, and Scott Teems was assigned to write the script. Later, on December 16, 2019, Keith Thomas was replaced by Akin as director.
Now after all the to and fro, the film is all set to release on May 13, 2022 and will simultaneously release on Peacock. The film will be the fourth Universal theatrical release to simultaneously release on Peacock after The Boss Baby: Family Business, Blumhouse /Miramax’s Halloween Kills, and Marry Me.
Firestarter Cast
The upcoming film is a remake of the movie Firestarter (1984). It will cast Zac Efron as Andrew “Andy” McGee who was also seen in The Beach Bum, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, and Baywatch, Ryan Kiera Armstrong as Charlene “Charlie” McGee she started her acting career in the Tv series Anne as Minnie in 2017, Sydney Lemmon as Victoria “Vicky” McGee (née Tomlinson), Michael Greyeyes as John Rainbird, Kurtwood Smith, John Beasley, Gloria Reuben.

Firestarter Plot
Firestarter is directed by Keith Thomas and the screenplay is by Scott Teems. In the remake, you will see a girl with incredible pyrokinetic powers who is fighting to protect her family and herself from devilish forces who aim to capture and control her.
It’s been more than a decade that her parents Andy and Vicky have been on the run and are hopeless to hide their daughter Charlie from a darkened nationwide agency that wants to steal her unusual gift for making fire into a weapon of mass destruction. Andy has also taught Charlie to defuse her power which is only activated by anger or pain. But as soon Charlie turned 11 the fire became harder to control after all this incident the family’s location gets revealed, a secretive investigator is deployed to hunt down the family and capture Charlie for all time but Charlie has other plans.
