Illumination Entertainment’s sweetest creation was off-screen for too long but now with their return to theaters we have a lot to catch up with them along with their adventures. Get ready as a new installment in Universal Pictures’ Minions franchise is all set for theaters in 2022 just after four years of Despicable Me 3.
Minions: The Rise of Gru is the fifth movie that has become one of Universal Pictures biggest franchises, with all previous like Despicable Me and Minions movies.
The upcoming film is directed by Kyle Balda along with co-directors Brad Ableson and Jonathan del Val.

Release date of Minions: The Rise of Gru
The upcoming film is expected to release theatrically on July 1, 2022.
Earlier, the film was set for release on July 3, 2020, but in April 2020, Universal Pictures pushed the release date back one year to July 2, 2021. The reason behind this was due to nationwide theatrical shutdowns due to COVID-pandemic.
The release date got shifted for the third time this year in March and was further pushed to July 2022.
Minions: The Rise of Gru cast
The cast of the upcoming film is amazing. Carell will once again give voice to the role of God. Also, some supporting characters will join. Julie Andrews is back as Marlena Gru who plays Gru’s imposing mother. Russell Brand will return and play as a younger version of Dr. Nefariouswho will be seen as Gru’s closest allies, Pierre Coffinwill gives the voices for main Minions Kevin, Stuart, and Bob, and also any additional Minions in any given scene.
Minions: The Rise of Gru will also feature the voice of Taraji P. Henson, Alan Arkin, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Lucy Lawless, Danny Trejo, Michelle Yeoh, and Russell Brand. Henson, Van Damme, Lawless, Lundgren, and Trejo. Also, Henson will play Belle Bottom, Van Damme will play Jean Clawed, Lawless will play Nunchuk, Lundgren will play Vengeance, and Trejo will play Stronghold. You will also see Alan Arkin as Wild Knuckles who is the main leader of The Vicious 6 before Belle Bottom took over.

The upcoming film will take back the audience to the 1970s where a young Gru is dreaming of nothing but wanting to become one of the world’s great supervillains.
The Universal Pictures’ official page for the Minions sequel says, “When the Vicious 6 oust their leader, legendary fighter Wild Knuckles, Gru interviews to become their newest member. It doesn’t go well (to say the least), and only gets worse after Gru outsmarts them and suddenly finds himself the mortal enemy of the apex of evil.”
