Here’s everything we know so far about Prison Break Season 6:
Is there a Prison Break Season 6? When will Prison Break Season 6 release?
In 2017, FOX Television Group CEO Dana Walden stated after the fifth season of Prison Break that the network would “definitely consider doing more episodes.” Later, on December 12, 2017, season 6 is “in the works,” wrote Dominic Purcell, who plays Lincoln Burrows in the series. Years later, in 2019, Dominic Purcell went to confirm that filming for Prison Break Season 6 was going on.
Meanwhile, Wentworth Miller, the series’ co-lead, confirmed his departure from the show. Miller, who previously came out as gay back in August 2013, “I’m out. of PB. Officially,” he wrote at the end of a post about the criticism he had received on Instagram. “Not static on social media. I just don’t want to play straight characters. Their stories have been told.”
So it is official that there will be no return for Miller in a potential Season 6 of Prison Break. Dominic Purcell also commented on Miller’s reasons for leaving the series behind. “It was fun mate. What a ride it was. Fully support and understand your reasoning. Glad you have made this decision for you health and your truth. Keep the posts coming. …. love ya brother.”
In 2020, actor Dominic Purcell spoke out about his hopes for a sixth season again, saying, “We are all in agreement that if the story is worthy it will get made,” he said. Right now, there’s only uncertainty around Prison Break Season 6. The show was definitely in the works, though it got shelved for a variety of reasons. But the door is still open for a potential Season 6.
Prison Break Season 6 Plot: What can we expect?
Season 5 of Prison Break came to an end with Michael ultimately reuniting with his family at the end of the finale. It wasn’t an easy undertaking, especially because he was separated from his wife Sara and their daughter for seven years, with the rest of the world assuming he was dead.
In conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Miller had earlier talked about the ending, saying that “Michael’s home, but I don’t know if he’s at peace,” and that he may be “haunted for a long time” along with “anxiety, insomnia, and paranoia”. “If there are new stories to tell, we could probably start there: with Michael’s not-so-smooth re-entry into civilian life.” he added.
Prison Break 6 Cast: Who will return for Prison Break Season 6?
Any character that made it out alive in the last season may resume their respective roles in Season 6, except Wentworth Miller, as he confirmed that he’s done with the show. We expect the return of Dominic Purcell as Lincoln Burrows, Rockmond Dunbar as C-Note, Robert Knepper as T-Bag, Amaury Nolasco as Sucre, and Inbar Lavi as Sheba.
