Netflix has dropped the trailer of short film-turned-full length feature, Rescued By Ruby on February 22, 2022. Directed by Katt Shea, the film stars Grant Gustin, who would be recognized by each and every DC fan as The Flash. Rescued By Ruby: What is the story based on?
The movie is inspired by a real life dog by the name of Ruby, an Australian Shepherd and Border Collie mix and police officer Dan O’Neil. Ruby was to be put down due to her ‘unadoptable’ traits and she would have been gone if not intervened by Pat Inman who felt that she can be trained just by some extra effort and discipline. He contacted the police department in order to request them to take her in as a part of K-9 group and eventually she was offered to Dan. Dan always wanted to be a part of the search team and this was a dream come true. Lots of efforts and patience later, Ruby finally became a trained loyal partner in K-9. Ruby found an injured boy in a ravine in her seventh year of service, who happened to be Pat’s son. Since then, the coincident became the theme of multiple pieces of literature and the latest is the upcoming film.

The upcoming movie is a twisted version of the original tale. In the movie, Officer Dan has the dream of being assigned to the K-9 squad. However, his immediate senior doesn’t feel like he’s ready for the responsibility. When Dan keeps on pressing, the department clearly said that they have no budget to get a new dog. Now Dan is on his way to find himself a suitable pup in the local shelter, where he bumps into Ruby. Ruby has been named the ‘unadoptable’ due to the fact that she kept getting returned due to her highly energetic behavior. From there starts a story of partnership, compassion, love and loyalty.
