Big Mouth, Netflix’s raunchy animated coming-of-age comedy, is all set to return to the streaming service. The door was left wide open for characters to grow and develop when fans left the students of Bridgeton Middle School in Season 5. Throughout the season, characters discovered themselves and came to terms with life itself, and as a result, they matured and portrayed massive character development.
Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett produced the adult animated sitcom for Netflix. The series is loosely based on Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg’s childhood and their own teenage experiences as children.
Season 5, like the previous seasons, was well-received by the audience and the critics. The characters went under some of their most significant changes yet, and fans will notice that the characters presented in the first season aren’t necessarily the same as before, rather much better. Each season of Big Mouth has been released on a consistent schedule, usually in the fall of each year. Hence, we can expect Big Mouth Season 6 in either October or November 2022. No date has been announced yet.
What happened in Season 5 and what can we expect in Big Mouth Season 6?
Nick’s lovebug evolved into a hateworm after Jessi broke his heart and humiliated him in front of his peers. After meeting his real-life adult counterpart, Nick Kroll, Nick conquered his hatred for Jessi and everything else around him.
We may expect Nick to make up for the lost time by getting enraged at his friends and family next season. Naturally, as he comes to terms with growing older, his puberty impulses and hormones will likely run riot.
Throughout Season 5, Andrew was an especially sexually aroused youngster, and while Maury was impressed, many of his peers were repulsed by his actions. Andrew, on the other hand, has truly come into his own as a person, and with each passing season, he grows in confidence. Expect Andrew to step up his efforts to find a woman and new ways to get his rocks off, all while Maury looks on proudly.
Jessi discovers that she is attracted to both men and women after exploring her sexuality. She was also the cause for Ali’s breakup with her girlfriend, Samira, who was envious of Jessi and Ali’s closeness. Jessi neglected her friendship with Missy resulting in turbulence between them. Jessi mended her connection with Missy by the end of the season, and a new romance blossomed between her and Ali.
Jessi’s burgeoning romance with Ali will undoubtedly be explored next season, and with Ali already being a sexually active individual, we can see Jessi becoming concerned that her lack of experience in the bedroom may not be enough to satisfy her new lover.
Jay has struggled to find a partner who can fulfill him sexually and emotionally after coming out as bisexual. After growing weary of being Charles Lu’s sidekick, Jay realized that Matthew had a thing on him, and the two are now dating after a bumpy start. In the meantime, Jay temporarily reconnected with Lola, but after understanding how toxic their relationship had become, he decided to pursue Matthew instead.
Jay is already one of the school’s most sexually active students, while Matthew is less experienced. Matthew is the sort to emotionally fulfill Jay, but whether or not they take their relationship to the next level remains to be seen.
Missy had a particularly rough season, which left her an enraged teenager. Missy was on the verge of losing everyone after almost breaking her friendships at school by spreading vicious stories and having a poor attitude toward her family. Missy acknowledged her wrongdoings following Jessi’s apology, and her hate worm converted into a love bug as she learned to love herself.
Missy missed out on a romance with DeVon, who chose to rekindle his tense relationship with Devin. But, as Missy’s confidence grows, Connie might finally be able to persuade her to take DeVon for herself.
Is Big Mouth Season 6 the final season?
Big Mouth has only been renewed for Season 6 thus far, and no news about a possible seventh season has been released. Given the story’s path, it’s not unexpected if season 6 is Big Mouth’s final season, but nothing is confirmed yet.
