Bonjour lecteur! How far have you reached on your journey of becoming a Francophone and living a life like Emily in Paris? If you’re still climbing the ladder tortoise-like, then don’t worry because Emily is going to return to teach you more Francophonic culture and taste in its all-new fourth season.
With season 3 encircling the perfect amalgamation of relationship fiascos, office adventures, and glittering sartorial couture, fans are wondering what is the future of Emily Cooper in Paris. As you might be knowing, seasons 3 and 4 of Emily in Paris were renewed in early 2022. That being said, here’s a full scoop on Emily in Paris Season 4 including information on its potential release date, plot details, and more spoilers.
What is the production status of Emily in Paris Season 4?
Count yourselves lucky for there is some good news coming your way. On February 25, 2023, writer Joshua Levy tweeted a photo of receiving Netflix’s note for joining the writing team of season 4. This suggests that the screenwriters and dialogue writers of the show are working hard for kickstarting the production of Emily in Paris season 4.
However, on June 6, Variety reported that the production of Emily in Paris season 4 has been officially delated owing to the writers’ strike. Initially, the fourth season was scheduled to start filming in Paris by the end of the summer. Given the WGA’s strike, the production has been tentatively pushed back for two months. The delay is also said to be extended further. Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, who plays Sophie teased that the fourth installment of Emily in Paris will be impacted by the strike while in conversation with Variety.
If we take into consideration the production schedules of Emily in Paris seasons 2 and 3, we expect the filming process of the brand-new installment to end by season 2023. The filming might conclude even before that since in September 2022, Variety reported that Emily in Paris seasons 3 and 4 are filmed back-to-back. Be that as it may, the report was proven false later. However, that does suggest that even while Emily in Paris season 3 was in the production process, the planning for the consequent season had already begun.
Interestingly, season four of Emily in Paris was renewed at the same time season three was. Lily Collins, the lead of the sartorial show, made the announcement through an Instagram post:
“Woke up early to give you some VERY exciting news,” she captioned a photo of herself wearing a very on-brand pyjama set. “@emilyinparis is back for Season 3… AND wait for it, Season 4!!!!!

What can we expect to happen in Emily in Paris season 4?
Season 3 of Emily in Paris began on a note of intense conflict encircling Emily, on personal as well as professional fronts. Following Savoir’s parent company withdrawing all support in the company operations held in France, Emily’s boss Madeline (Kate Walsh) decides to head back home to Chicago, while Emily makes the brave decision to stay in Paris, which lands her back her old job at Sylvie’s (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) new firm.
On a more personal level, Emily and her boyfriend Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) were doing great, until Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and Camille (Camille Razat) came into the picture. The duo’s engagement was not only disastrous for them, but it also rippled the silent and peaceful waters of the relationship between Emily and Alfie, with the latter leaving her, one can only assume, forever. Emily in Paris Season 3 concluded on an exciting cliffhanger as Gabriel reveals Camille’s pregnancy while confessing his present feelings for Emily, who also does not abstain from reciprocating her feelings for him.
In a conversation with TVGuide concerning what turn the plot will take in season 4, the creator Darren Star said:
“Season 4 is going to be more about navigating complicated relationships; personal relationships and work relationships, and how they come into conflict with each other…”
Concerning what tangent Gabriel and Camille’s baby will lead season 4 to take, Darren Star, in conversation with Entertainment Tonight, mentioned that it will take some time before Camille’s baby appears on the show. He said:
“It’s very clear in season 3 that it’s a big dream of [Gabriel’s]. He wants to be a father and I think he was excited and is excited about the idea of fatherhood, but you know, our show doesn’t move that quickly.” He further added, “We’ve had three seasons and maybe six months of actual time [have passed], so I’m not sure we’re going to actually see a baby in season 4. But I think that we’re going to have to deal with the prospect of the baby.”
In addition, Lucien Laviscount also opened up about his character’s potential in the upcoming installment of the show, while speaking to Entertainment Weekly. He explicated, “I’d like Alfie to kind of take a little bit more of a stand within the company with Antoine, that’d be cool. Maybe have a little bit of a speaking to with the good ole Nicolas, I think that that’d be quite a nice little thing to play with within the business, the two businesses kind of fighting off each other.
“I personally, as me, I need closure on certain things, whatever that might look like. So I guess with Alfie and Emily, whether it be closure or a friendship or whatever, to explore that? Because I know it’s been explored [a little], but I think their relationship is different than what Gabriel and Emily’s was.
“So it’d be interesting to explore that maybe. But, like I say, I’m all in for whatever.”
Elsewhere, while speaking to The Wrap, creator Darren Star shared insights regarding Emily’s character arc in terms of her professional life. He said, “Emily’s attitude about work or her competitive nature, it’s certainly affected the work culture at Sylvie’s company and I think Julien feels sidelined a little bit because Emily’s always about being the loudest voice in the room.
“I think that’s something that really offends Julien in a sense, because I feel like he does get steamrolled by Emily. Emily’s by no means a perfect character and I think Emily has to be more graceful in terms of work, but I think she’s done some damage that we’re going to see the fallout from in season four with Julien.”
