Here is everything we know about Fire Country Season 2.
Fire Country Season 2 Renewal Status
The show was greenlit for a second season earlier this year on January 6, 2023, and it is not surprising that the show got approved for another chapter this early on as the show’s overall reception speaks for itself! The rating reflects the strength of the show which has averaged 8 million viewers per episode, making it the top new broadcast series of the season. With live +35-day multi-platform viewing, more than 10 million viewers an episode have watched the procedural across linear and streaming platforms.
“It’s pretty remarkable to see a new series resonate like this with both broadcast and streaming audiences right out of the gate,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “Fire Country has so many appealing entry points for the audience. It combines high-stakes action with small-town charm, mystery, romance, and a family franchise at its core. We’re blessed to have an incredible team in front of and behind the camera led by amazing producers and writers and an exceptionally talented cast.”
Moreover, the official Twitter handle of CBS also confirmed the renewal among its followers, quoting, “This story’s not done yet. #FireCountry has officially been renewed for season 2!” Take a look at the official post below:

Fire Country Season 2 Expected Release Date and Time Slot
The exact premiere date has yet to be acknowledged, as it is way too early for the network to confirm any such major details. On the bright side, the release window for Fire Country Season 2 is supposed to be set for the 2023–24 broadcast season and premiere sometime in the fall of 2023 on the CBS network. The filming is expected to begin sometime around July or August once the writer’s strike comes to an end, which can cause a change in the release date.
Until then, the ideal release window for the second season is speculated to be around September or October 2023, and it is expected to premiere every Friday at 9/8c on CBS and Paramount Plus, just like the first season. We’ll just have to wait and see what the future holds, as there is a chance that the series might return next year if the strike doesn’t resolve soon, which will lead to delays in completing the scripts for the writer’s room.
Until then, you should stream all the prior episodes and also subscribe to the official Twitter handle of Fire Country or CBS to get all new updates firsthand.

Fire Country Season 2 Plot: What to expect?
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CalFire), a real-life firefighting program, served as the inspiration for the premise of the CBS television series, which has an entirely creative storyline. When Thieriot started developing the concept for the series, he drew inspiration from his memories of growing up in Northern California’s fire region.
In order to ensure realism, Thieriot and the rest of the actors also contacted actual firemen. “We work with a bunch of different firefighters, from all over, with many years of experience,” the Point Break star told Collider in January 2023. “A couple of the guys that we have up here both have about 30 years. We really try to bring in as much of the authenticity as we possibly can. It’s always that fine line of telling these dramatic stories for television, but also respecting the job that people do, and we try to keep those two things close.”
Hence, the show’s basic theme will be carried further into the new season, which follows: “Bad choices don’t make a bad man. At least that’s what Bode Donovan’s been told. Midway through a five-year prison stretch, he’s been trying to convince himself of it, too. He gets the chance to prove it, signing on to an unconventional prison-release program: in exchange for reduced sentences, convicts are paired with firefighters battling Northern California wildfires. The heat is turned up when Bode’s assigned to the program in his rural hometown, the place where all his troubles began.”
There is also no doubt that the next season will pick up from the final episode, “I Know It Feels Impossible,” which was watched by 5.32 million US viewers. The episode was directed by Dermott Downs and written by Tia Napolitano. The following synopsis of the episode states, “The station 42 and third rock crews face a daring rescue when a massive mudslide tears through Edgewater. Meanwhile, Bode’s (Max Theriot) freedom is on the line at his parole hearing.”
There are many unresolved plotlines which will be addressed in the next season to build up the hype! Also, check out the official promo for the final episode of Fire Country Season 1, and let us know what you hope will be covered in the next season in the comments.
Fire Country Season 2 Cast: Who will return to the show?
The main cast members of the series who are expected to reprise their roles in the second season are as follows: Max Thieriot as Bode Donovan (aka Bode Leone), Kevin Alejandro as Manny Perez, Jordan Calloway as Jake Crawford, Stephanie Arcila as Gabriela Perez, Jules Latimer as Eve Edwards, Diane Farr as Sharon Leone, and Billy Burke as Vince Leone. Later, it was reported that Zach Tinker had joined the cast in an undisclosed capacity.
Moreover, in March 2023, it was announced that Rebecca Mader and Kanoa Goo would be cast in recurring roles. Announcements of new cast members are still being made, and there is a chance more will be confirmed later. In addition to this, the series is produced by CBS Studios and Universal Television, with Thieriot, Tony Phelan, and Joan Rater serving as executive producers among other crew members.
Fire Country Season 2 Episodes: Where to stream?
The next season is anticipated to include at least 22 episodes, and it is meant to be consistent with its predecessor. We would like to point out that the official episode count may vary owing to the ongoing writer’s strike, which may have prompted the makers of the show to slash the number of episodes by creating a shorter season so that the season may air on the allotted schedule.
So, if the readers want to receive updates on any changes and when the show premieres on the respective streaming platforms, they can also enable notifications on the respective platforms.
When released, Fire Country Season 2, along with prior episodes, will be available on CBS and later on Paramount Plus. On the other hand, it is reported to be available for free on the CBS platform, just like all the other series on the platform. The first season is also available to stream on FuboTV, depending on viewers’ locations, like many CBS series.
The show might also be available to rent or buy on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, and Vudu, depending on the preferred membership plans that the users can choose from.
