NCIS: Hawai’i Season 3 Release Date Prediction: When will it premiere?
If you recall, the show was officially renewed for a third season back earlier this year in February 2023, for the 2023–24 broadcast season, which was an exciting update for the fans who were eagerly awaiting any confirmation. But sadly, it seems like the surprises and anticipation for its release were short-lived due to the ongoing 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, which started a few weeks ago.
If you have been keeping up then you’ll know that there are many reports circulating confirming that the writing for the upcoming season has not started, which is quite unfortunate when we consider the fact that filming usually begins by the summer season if the network is aiming for its fall release later this year. So, if we look at the current status, one thing is pretty much clear: the network might be considering some crucial changes behind the scenes for its upcoming primetime schedule.
Hence, providing any updates for its potential release in June seems quite impossible! We assume that the ongoing writer’s strike can lead to a major delay in production, eventually forcing the creators to skip the fall premiere and set the release window for some time in 2024 if the situation isn’t resolved soon. On the other hand, there is still a chance that the only update we get in June might be that the network decides to publish the show’s revised release dates in order to avoid further confusion.

To add more fuel to the fire, recently, the latest report by Deadline states that CBS seems to be taking measures and might have started to look at alternatives!
George Cheeks, President and CEO of CBS and Chief Content Officer, during a keynote at Banff moderated by Deadline’s Peter White, stated, “We wanted to build our schedule for when the world goes back to normal,” Cheeks said. “Once we had done that, once we locked it in, we spent a lot of time focusing on what it’s going to look like.” He elaborated that a revised CBS fall scheduling plan is expected to be revealed soon. “First of all, obviously it’s going to be very reality-heavy,” he said.
After looking at these official comments, it’s pretty much clear to assume that the content of the CBS schedule can be changed and that most of the shows, including NCIS: Hawai’i, might be put on halt for their production to resume sometime later and eventually be released by late 2023 or even some time in 2024! Of course, this is simply our opinion that the creators may take the late completion of the scripts into account and consider the best plan without any unnecessary hurdles in the future.
In conclusion, we request the fans to be patient and keep a close eye on the social media platforms to get all the details on the potential release date, which will eventually be acknowledged.
NCIS: Hawai’i Season 3 Plot: What to expect?
Not much has been revealed about the plot of the upcoming season as it is way too early for the network to reveal such crucial plotlines, which can lead to spoilers. But it is certain that the series will expand on its basic premise, which follows:
“The world’s most successful television series continues on the seductive shores of Hawai’i as the first female Special Agent in Charge of NCIS Pearl Harbor takes command. She and her team balance duty to family and country, investigating high-stakes crimes involving military personnel, national security, and the mysteries of the island itself. This NCIS: Hawai’i team is a skilled mix of mainland transplants who’ve relocated to the tranquility of the Pacific and wizened locals who know their mahalo from kapu.”
The third season is also expected to pick up right after the cliffhanger of the second season finale episode, “Dies Irae,” in which the viewers got to see that when a figure Jane encountered during her time as an officer with the CIA reappears, she and her colleagues seek help to apprehend a killer who’s threatening to destroy everything she has built; with Jane receiving assistance from Sam Hanna of the OSP team of NCIS: Los Angeles. With tough and regretful decisions made, the NCIS: Hawai’i team is facing some major changes that they are yet to know.

NCIS: Hawai’i Season 3 Cast: Who will return?

On the other hand, LL Cool J will reprise the role of Sam Hanna from NCIS: Los Angeles as a recurring guest star in Season 3 of NCIS: Hawai’i, which is an exciting update for the fans! “All of us at NCIS: Hawai’i have been huge fans of LL Cool J for years and couldn’t be more thrilled or honored to be adding his spectacular talent to our ohana for season three,” executive producers Matt Bosack, Jan Nash, and Christopher Silber said in a statement.
“One of the most beautiful things about working on NCIS: Hawai’i is the show’s ability to bring the franchise together. We have had so much fun spreading the aloha to NCIS and NCIS: LA with the triple crossover. Now, we have the amazing opportunity to bring Sam Hanna to Hawai’i to help the island solve some cases and maybe have a few laughs in the process. Welcome to the ohana, Todd! It’s going to be a fun ride!” Lachey added.
