Outer Banks Season 4 Release Date and Time Slots
If you recall, ahead of the third season premiere, Netflix was quick to renew the series for a fourth season, which was an exciting update revealed at the Poguelandia Fan Event in Huntington Beach, California. Since then, the official release date for the next chapter has yet to be confirmed, as the announcement will certainly take its time because the filming of the fourth season has reportedly begun on May 30, 2023, and is speculated to officially wrap on December 15, 2023.
But on the bright side, many reports have indicated that the show might make its comeback sometime in late 2023 or even 2024, only if the production is completed on the allotted schedule.
Of course, this is just pure conjecture! The ongoing writer’s strike may become a major factor in the delay of the show’s official release on Netflix. We say this because many writers’ rooms have come to a halt until a proper resolution regarding the writer’s compensation is made. So, we don’t think the crew will be able to begin filming if they haven’t created any scripts beforehand. Hence, it can force the creators to postpone the release and set it at a suitable time when such hurdles die down!

Outer Banks Season 4 Plot: What to expect?
Although the cast has not announced the official filming of the show, it appears like the next part of #P4L has begun, with the hunt for Blackbeard’s gold on the horizon, and the Outer Banks cast is more than ready for it! As the cast has already returned to Kildare Island, as seen in the newly released sneak peek clip from Netflix’s Tudum’s Global Event 2023, which completely highlights that this season follows the legend of Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard, who was an English pirate that operated around the West Indies and the eastern coast of Britain’s North American colonies.
“Seeing Poguelandia come to life was nothing short of spectacular. The Pogues are enjoying an adventure of a lifetime, and we now get to map out more twists and turns as the joyride continues into season four of Outer Banks. Thank you to Netflix, our cast, and the amazing fans who helped to make this happen,” said co-creators, showrunners, and executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke at the Saturday celebration during the Poguelandia Fan Event in Huntington Beach, California.
The next season will also pick up elements from the final episode, Secret of the Gnomon, of the third season, in which the viewers got to see that it’s been 18 months since they discovered the gold in El Dorado, where they’re still reeling from the deaths of Ward and Big John. Co-creator Shannon Burke previously told Tudum, “They couldn’t completely lose the third season,” Added co-creator Josh Pate, “We knew we needed to give them a win, but it ended up being a complicated one. We wanted the audience to feel that they had accomplished something and that it wasn’t all for nothing.”
Lastly, the creators have also said that they’re planning on filling in some more of the gaps within that 18-month time frame when Season 4 returns, which is crucial for the series to maintain continuity and not confuse the audience by letting them know that the Pogues “need to slow down and let all the ripples wash through” of the trauma they’ve endured, said Pate. Stokes agreed, noting how, after his dad’s death, John B is “just broken.”
Outer Banks Season 4 Cast: Who will return?
The main cast members from the third season are expected to return in the next chapter are as follows: Chase Stokes as John B. Routledge, Madelyn Cline as Sarah Cameron, Jonathan Daviss as Pope Heyward, Carlacia Grant as Cleo, Rudy Pankow as JJ Maybank, Madison Bailey as Kiara Carrera, Drew Starkey as Rafe Cameron, and Austin North as Topper Thornton. On the other hand, there can be some additions to the fourth season’s cast! Yes, you read it right!
Previously, co-creator Josh Pate teased that the upcoming season will feature several flashbacks to fill in the gaps with the 18-month time jump. “We felt like we needed to migrate them out of school,” he told Netflix Tudum. Further adding, “We think about the first three [seasons] as a trilogy and then we’re starting over on [another sort of] trilogy now. We just needed to clear the decks. We’re going to have new villains, a new treasure hunt, a new life situation.”
This comment has left the fans optimistic that new characters can be the new villains in the story that will be introduced in the next season. We’ll just have to be patient until they are officially released!
Outer Banks Season 4 Episodes: Where to stream?
The next season is anticipated to include at least 10 episodes with an average length of 42–79 minutes. On the other hand, the episode titles and synopsis of the series have not been released in order to avoid early spoilers! All these details will be published once the episodes are due to air on the streaming service. So, we would advise fans to be patient while waiting for these updates, which will be issued in the coming days, and binge-watch the prior episodes to recall the events.
When Outer Banks Season 4 draws close to its release date, the series, along with previous seasons, will be available exclusively on Netflix, with other series of the same genre also accessible on the streaming platform. The video quality and the number of screens you can use to stream Netflix simultaneously depend on the package you choose. The basic membership starts at $9.99/month, and the standard membership starts at $15.49/month at no additional cost with any of their services.

Outer Banks Season 4: Is there any teaser or trailer?
The network has not released any new teasers or trailers for the upcoming season, as production has yet to begin. In the meantime, check out the official trailer of Outer Banks Season 3, in which the viewers get to see that the third season picks up with the Pogues as they’re washed ashore on a desert island that, for a brief moment, seems like an idyllic home, after they’ve found (and lost) a golden treasure and fled their hometown.
It is officially deemed “Poguelandia,” the island’s newest residents spend their days fishing, swimming, and reveling in the carefree lifestyle of their temporary dwelling. But things quickly go south for John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope, JJ, and Cleo when they find themselves once again caught up in a race for the treasure, quite literally running for their lives.
They’re broke and far from home, they can’t trust anyone, Ward and Rafe are hungry for revenge, and there’s a ruthless Caribbean Don who will stop at nothing to find the bounty. Was the treasure ever within their reach? Or was it all a trap to stop them once and for all? Either way, it’s the Pogues against the world – and the only way out is together. On Rotten Tomatoes, the third season holds an approval rating of 50% based on 8 reviews, with an average rating of 4.1/10.
