A South Korean Netflix Original zombie-horror series, All of Us Are Dead has gained massive popularity almost parallel to that of Squid Game. Based on the webtoon Now at Our School by Joo Dong-geun, the zombie horror has been written by Chun Sung-il and directed by Lee Jae Gyoo, who is popular for his works like Trap, King2Hearts and Intimate Strangers.
The official synopsis of All of Us Are Dead reads:
“A high school becomes ground zero for a zombie virus outbreak. Trapped students must fight their way out or turn into one of the rabid infected.”
Following the enormous success of All of Us Are Dead season, the creators of the show decided to renew it for a second season and ever since that announcement, the fans of the show have been perched on the edge of their seats, waiting for the bomb to drop.
Here’s a quick rundown of All of Us Are Dead season 2.
When was All of Us Are Dead season 2 officially renewed?
All of Us Are Dead season was renewed for a second season on June 6, 2022. It was Day 1 of the Netflix Geeked Week. In addition to updating the renewal status of All of Us Are Dead, Netflix also released a video showcasing the cast of the show. You can take a look at the video here:
In conversation with HypeBeast KR, the director of the series unveiled his plans for the show, saying:
“The story itself was set with season 2 in mind, so if season 2 comes out, it might be a little more interesting and expanded story.” He also left a hint about the content of Season 2, saying, “If Season 1 was a survival period for humans, there is a sense of humour, but Season 2 feels like it will be a survival period for zombies.”
What can we expect to happen in All of Us Are Dead season 2?
Since Netflix hasn’t released any official plotline regarding the new season, we’ll side with the previous article on Web News Observer, regarding the plot structure of the South Korean show:
“Unlike the plethora of fans who are deeply anticipating a second season, some critics find there is no real need for producing All of Us Are Dead Season 2. That’s because in season 1 only a few students survive Hyosan High school while a majority of people were turned into zombies and they in turn were strategically bombed by the Korean military. These few survivors are now living in a refugee camp, waiting for the military’s cue to return home safely.
Unless the new season begins with a new outbreak.
Or the season magnifies on Nam-Ra, who interestingly did not succumb to the virus even after being infected by it. She was not only able to stay human but also gain new strength and endurance after being infected by the virus.
The new season could focus more on zombie hybrids like Nam-Ra, with questionable identities that can counteract anytime in the series.
No matter what the storyline is, we are certain All of Us Are Dead Season 2 will be equally gripping and thrilling as its predecessor. Keep checking this space for more updates.”
Has the production on All of Us Are Dead season 2 begun?
All of Us Are Dead season 2 is still currently in the pre-production stage and there has been no more evidence on the production status. However, on social media and the comments section page of MyAnimeList, people report that 50% of the South Korean zombie horror has been completed. Be that as it may, Netflix hasn’t confirmed anything as of yet.
But one thing is for sure that All of Us Are Dead season 2 is not coming to Netflix in December.
