This is exciting news for die-hard AHS fans who will get to see another season of this beloved franchise this year!
It has been a while since the FX network renewed the series for an additional three seasons, including the eleventh, bringing it to at least thirteen confirmed seasons. Moreover, reports not long ago noted that production is scheduled to begin shooting in New York City later in April! Due to this production schedule, we don’t have an idea about the exact release date of the new episodes. But it is anticipated to have a summer premiere, with Murphy and FX expected to announce an exact date in June 2023.
The season is also expected to drop new episodes each Wednesday at the same time slot as before, which is 10 p.m. (ET/PT) on FX and stream the next day on Hulu. The new season of AHS is being executive produced by Murphy, co-creator Brad Falchuk, Feiffer, Alexis Martin Woodall, and Scott Robertson. Wait! That’s not all the good news, the show creators have many surprises on the way!
For the first time in this anthology’s history, the show will lean heavily on the original sources.
Each episode of this season is being written by Halley Feiffer, which is a first for the series. She will also take over as a showrunner from Murphy. The 12th season is titled Delicate and is based, at least in part, on Danielle Valentine’s upcoming novel, Delicate Condition. As highlighted by the exclusive report of The Hollywood Reporter, the novel is described as a gripping thriller about a woman who becomes convinced that a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure her pregnancy never happens.

A cover blurb from author Andrea Bartz describes Delicate Condition as “the feminist update to Rosemary’s Baby we all needed.” This is not the first time, as Rosemary’s Baby was mentioned in American Horror Story earlier, but this Valentine’s novel adaptation looks like it will follow in the footsteps of Ira Levin’s famous book. This gives us a little idea about the direction that the show is taking, as little is known about the exact plot and what horrors await us, but if past seasons are any indication, we can expect grotesque creatures, haunted locations, and plenty of blood-curdling mayhem.
As always, a star-studded cast will bring the terror to life, including AHS regulars and some exciting new additions. It was confirmed that AHS star and serial Murphy collaborator Emma Roberts will be back for this season, along with Kim Kardashian and Matt Czuchry. Giving hints about the new iterations, Emma Roberts teased her fans about her character in American Horror Story Season 12, stating, “This character is much more grown up. She dresses very Carolyn Bessette, ’90s New York — I’m obsessed with my character’s style this season.”
Moreover, talking about Kim Kardashian’s involvement, Ryan Murphy said of the signing, quoting, “Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the American Horror Story family. Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture. Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish, and ultimately terrifying role, especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done.”

We would like to highlight that the exact number of episodes has yet to be announced, but we can anticipate a similar range of 10 episodes with an average runtime of 35 to 71 minutes. The episode count may vary depending on the theme that the show wishes to convey to the audience. Until then, we urge the viewers to stream the 11th season of American Horror Story, subtitled NYC, which takes place in 1980s New York City and focuses on a string of killings involving gay men and the emergence of a new virus.
This season received mostly positive reviews from critics. Rotten Tomatoes reports that 71% of seven critics gave the season a positive review.
So, when the release date of American Horror Story Season 12 draws near, the beloved horror anthology series will be available exclusively on FX and later on Hulu, with all previous seasons also accessible with a range of membership options. You can also stream it on Amazon Prime and NBC. It is also available to stream by renting or purchasing it on Amazon Instant Video, iTunes, Google Play, and Vudu, depending on the location and the preferences of the viewers.
