And Just Like That Season 2: When will it release on HBO Max?

And Just Like That Season 2 Speculated Release Date

If you recall, the series was renewed for a second season back in March 2022. Since then, filming for the second season began on October 4, 2022, in New York City and seems to still be ongoing, as no update about completion has been disclosed yet. So, this makes it obvious that the exact release date for the new season has also not been revealed yet. But if we have to speculate, the new episodes will premiere sometime in the mid-to-late 2023 range.

We would like to highlight that the most likely timeframe can be sometime around December 2023, just like the first season. Much to the delight of fans, it has also been debated that season two could be released as early as sometime around the summer of 2023 with the same premiere time as other shows on the streaming service, which is at midnight PT/3 a.m. ET. In order to receive updates on when the new episodes premiere, interested viewers can also enable notifications on HBO and HBO Max.

And Just Like That Season 2: What can the viewers expect in the new season?

“I am delighted and excited to tell more stories about these vibrant, bold characters – played by these powerful, amazing actors. The fact is, we’re all thrilled. And Just Like That… our Sex life is back,” King said in a statement. Added Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content at HBO Max, “We have been delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much. We are proud of the work Michael Patrick King and our wonderful writers, producers, cast and crew have done to bring these stories to the screen. We can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store for season 2!”

One of the biggest surprises in the new season is that Carrie and Aidan are back together! “It really just felt like this was a lot for Carrie,” he said. “This season was a lot. We wanted to get her through [Big’s death] and into the light-the last episode is called, ‘Seeing the Light.’ We wanted to get her out. [Aidan’s return] is a big storyline that everybody at home wrote that we had never intended.” Corbett portrayed Carrie Bradshaw’s (Parker) on-and-off boyfriend and later fiancé Aidan Shaw in seasons 3 and 4 of Sex and the City. They broke up twice, the first time after she confessed to sleeping with her future husband Mr. Big, and the second time when she couldn’t commit after Aidan proposed and the two got engaged. Carrie and Aidan mended fences in Season 6 when they bumped into one another on the street, with Aidan revealing that he was married with a young son. So, Carrie and Aidan’s reunion years later will likely have to address what has happened to Aidan’s wife, Kathy.

And Just Like That Season 2 Cast Updates

The main cast members of the series who will reprise their roles are as follows Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes, Kristin Davis as Charlotte York Goldenblatt, Mario Cantone as Anthony Marentino, David Eigenberg as Steve Brady, Evan Handler as Harry Goldenblatt, Sara Ramirez as Che Diaz, and Sarita Choudhury as Seema Patel.

The recurring cast members of the second season are Nicole Ari Parker as Lisa Todd Wexley, Karen Pittman as Dr. Nya Wallace, Bobby Lee as Jackie Nee, Chris Jackson as Herbert Wexley, LeRoy McClain as Andre Rashad Wallace, Cathy Ang as Lily Goldenblatt, Alexa Swinton as Rose “Rock” Goldenblatt, Niall Cunningham as Brady Hobbes, Cree Cicchino as Luisa Torres, Ivan Hernandez as Franklyn, Brenda Vaccaro as Gloria Marquette, John Corbett as Aidan Shaw, and Tony Danza. The freshman season was executive produced by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Julie Rottenberg, Elisa Zuritsky, John Melfi, and Michael Patrick King.

The series also faced difficulties after actor Chris Noth was accused of sexual assault by multiple women. Noth has repeatedly denied all allegations. His character Mr. Big, husband of protagonist Carrie Bradshaw (Parker) was killed off in the premiere episode prior to the allegations. He was due to make a surprise appearance in the season finale shot in Paris but a decision was made to have him edited out. There was also the heartbreaking and shocking death of Willie Garson on September 21 while the show was in production.

Garson, who died from pancreatic cancer at the age of 57, shot multiple episodes of Season 1. Garson kept his illness a secret from all but Parker. King told Deadline they have no plans to kill off his character Stanford Blatch, who was written off in episode 4 as going off to Japan following his famous social media client who is going on tour. It was also revealed he asked his husband Anthony (Mario Cantone) for a divorce.

“We have no interest or plans in killing Stanford. None,” King told Deadline in February. He added regarding whether Stanny could be in Japan indefinitely, “Maybe. People change. People live in different places. It’s not something we’ve even discussed at this point because it’s so sad. We had 10 full, authentic, hilarious episodes for Stanford. Those just went away and there’s nothing really juicy about a real death, fictional death you can build around. Everybody knows Willie is gone, so there’s no real trick that we would try to pull to make that non-reality. We can’t bring Willie back so I don’t think we would even attempt to bring Stanford back because that’s a lot.”

There was also speculation that franchise star Kim Cattrall would make a surprise return after declining to reprise her role as PR maven Samantha Jones in And Just Like That… She does not, but Samantha’s spirit is felt throughout the season through text messages she exchanges with Carrie.
