BLACKPINK has finally made a triumphant comeback to the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. Charts. The K-pop girl band’s new single, Jump, has reached the no. 1 spot on each survey, making its way to becoming the biggest song globally.

This happens to be BLACKPINK’s third leader on the Global 200 ranking and fourth on the latter. The second-highest debut on the charts is Daisies by Justin Bieber, which is at no. 3 on Global 200 and no. 4 on Excl. U.S.

Meanwhile, HUNTR/X has earned its second Global 200 top 10 with How It’s Done lifting 11-9. The trio, whose music is voiced by Audrey Nuna, EJAE,  and REI AMI, has hit No. 1 on both the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. a week ago.

Another song from the group, Golden, from the Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters, has ranked at No. 2 on the two latest lists.

Girl Groups Top Billboard

This week’s Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts have made history for an entirely different reason. It marks the first time that the top two spots on each chart have been grabbed by all-female groups, that too, from K-pop.

The Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, which began in September 2020, also marked their 250th week a month ago. These charts rank songs based on streaming and sales activity curated from more than 200 territories around the world. The Global 200 includes worldwide data and the Global Excl. U.S. chart, on the other hand, comprises data from territories excluding the United States.

These chart rankings are based on a weighted formula that includes only official streams. This covers both subscription-based and ad-supported tiers on audio and video music platforms. The formula also factors in download sales from full-service digital music retailers worldwide. However, sales made through direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites are excluded from the chart calculations.

BLACKPINK makes history

BLACKPINK’s Jump was released on July 11 and has already sold 14,000 copies worldwide in the week ending July 17. It’s the first song in around four months to crack 100 million streams globally, since Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s Die With a Smile on the chart dated March 15.

Jump has also landed in the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 28, claiming their tenth entry on the weekly chart. The tune is also their sixth song to enter the top 40 on the Hot 100 chart. With this feat, BLACKPINK becomes the first female K-pop act to have 10 entries on the Hot 100 chart.

The K-pop group has also earned its third Global 200 No. 1, following Shut Down for a week in October 2022 and Pink Venom for two weeks in September during the same year.
