It’s that time of the year when the BLINKS can finally celebrate as the K-pop quartet will be back on stage as a group after a two-year-long hiatus.
On September 24, YG Entertainment announced that BLACKPINK reached a milestone in their video viewership with their flagship bop ‘How You Like That’ music video hitting 1.7 million views. The label highlighted that the band will be making a comeback as a group in 2025 via a World Tour, currently in the works. This fact was confirmed by YG Entertainment to TenAsia, and translated by Koreaboo.

YG Entertainment founder Hyun-suk notified, “There will be a highly-anticipated comeback from BLACKPINK. And it will also be the year BLACKPINK starts their world tour,” before adding, “We are working hard so that many YG artists can meet with many fans.”
In July, YG Entertainment informed fans that BLACKPINK was amidst a comeback with the possibility of a 2025 world tour up their musical sleeves. Now that the outlet has remained consistent with their announcements even after two months, we can only hope these plans are further solidified when YG Entertainment releases the concert dates and ticket purchase details online.
Fans are not convinced about the World Tour
However, BLACKPINK fans seem to be dissected into those who believe these claims, and those who don’t take the label’s announcement seriously. One fan tweeted, “Does blackpink know about this,” while another thought YG Entertainment was trying to gain attention from fans by posting this update. Another wrote, “YG using the same card every time he wants to get the attention of the media and fans…,” referring to when they made the same announcement in July 2024.

A third one said, “WE NEED A FULL ALBUM WITH 20 SONGS IN IT!” insinuating that they will only believe the news with concrete evidence of the songs the band will perform during the tour. A fan even went on to write, “I’ll believe when yg drops the comeback teaser.”
BLACKPINK terminated individual contracts in 2023
In December of 2023, the band terminated their individual contracts with YG Entertainment. However, the label announced that the members re-signed their contracts collectively as BLACKPINK. This means Lisa, Jennie Kim, Rosé, and Jisoo are at liberty to branch out to different labels for their individual projects, but when it comes to BLACKPINK as a group, their performance ties are bound to YG.
Following this development, LLOUD, Lisa’s own label company was launched on February 7 of this year, closely tailed by Jisoo releasing her own company BLISSOO on February 17. Rosé signed her individual contract with The Black Label in July of 2024, and Jennie was the first to make the move as she opened her own label company ODDATELIER (OA) on December 24, 2023.
Recent Projects of BLACKPINK members

Meanwhile, Jissoo is establishing her place in the Korean acting world, with BLISSOO managing her gigs. As reported, she finished filming for her upcoming Korean film in May 2024, titled, ‘Omniscient Readers Viewpoint.’ Her other upcoming k-drama ‘Influenza,’ is set to release sometime in late 2o24.
Lisa has not yet mentioned a date for the release of her upcoming solo album, and Rosé is currently indulging in her solo musical endeavors.
