Netflix's Bridgerton Cast: Phoebe Dynevor leaves the series before Season 3

Attention fans! Phoebe Dynevor has revealed that she may be absent from her role as Daphne in the upcoming season 3 of the show!

First Regé-Jean Page, who played her husband, the Duke of Hastings, exited the series after Season 1, and now the Duchess will be absent from the beloved Netflix series “Bridgerton,” ahead of its third season. Phoebe Dynevor’s presence in Bridgerton Season 3 was speculated since its production started last summer, but now it has also been reported that Dynevor is said to have fulfilled her contractual obligations.

On the other hand, in a recent interview, Phoebe Dynevor told Screenrant at the Sundance Film Festival that she would not be appearing in the new season but that she might appear in a future season.

Even though this Bridgerton update for the third season is disappointing, it is not entirely unexpected. If you watched the show, The Duchess of Hastings made a brief appearance in five episodes of Season 2, which is quite less than the prior season as the story shifted away from her character, which was quite evident if you have read the books. Now that Season 3 is approaching, it stands to reason that she will have less of an impact on the show’s story as it moves away from her season. As Bridgerton Season 3 will focus on Colin and Penelope, so Daphne will not be involved in their relationship.

In addition to this, Dynevor’s return to the show as Daphne should happen in spurts in the future. In her Screen Rant interview, she stated that she would be open to returning for future seasons, but Phoebe Dynevor, like everyone else, will watch Bridgerton Season 3 from afar. When Dynevor was asked this specific question, “Are there any exciting dynamics coming up for Daphne in Bridgerton Season 3?” She stated, “Sadly, not in season 3. Potentially in the future. But for season 3, I’m just excited to watch as a viewer.” Take a look at the official interview on the Screen Rant Plus YouTube channel below:

Bridgerton Season 3: Who are the other cast members?

Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington and Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton will be the main actors surrounding the story for the new season. Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley were confirmed to return for the third season as Viscount and Viscountess Bridgerton, exploring their married life and responsibilities as heads of the eponymous family. Along with Adjoa Andoh, Luke Newton, Jessica Madsen, Harriet Cains, Florence Hunt, Polly Walker, Emma Naomi, Luke Thompson, Hugh Sachs, Bessie Carter, Ruth Gemmell, Golda Rosheuvel, Claudia Jessie, Julie Andrews, and Martins Imhangbe to be returning.

Hannah Dodd was cast to replace Ruby Stokes as Francesca Bridgerton in the third season the following month. Due to scheduling conflicts, Stokes had to leave the show. Chandran will not return as Edwina for the rest of the season. Three new male actors have signed on for the new season: Daniel Francis (Stay Close) has joined the cast as Marcus Anderson; Sam Phillips (The Crown) as Lord Debling; and James Phoon (Wreck) as Harry Dankworth. Hannah New, who will play the young widow Lady Tilley Arnold, is the most recent addition to the cast. On the other hand, we know what you’re thinking – if Regé-Jean Page, who played the smoldering Duke of Hastings in Season 1, is returning or not. Sadly, he will not be reprising his role in Season 3.

Bridgerton Season 3: When will it release on Netflix?

It is certain that Bridgerton Season 3 will return to your screen, but fans will have to wait a little longer because the episode’s post-production is still ongoing, as the filming appears to have reached its conclusion in December 2022. Hence, it seems impossible that the show will return this early, to say the least. Additionally, the exact release date of the show has not been disclosed as of January 31, 2023. If we were to guess, we suspect Netflix is setting up Bridgerton Season 3 for an early to mid-2023 release, considering the last season came out on March 25, 2022.

Moreover, if we take most of the Netflix series into consideration with a bit of speculation, then the new season, will have the same premiere time as other shows on the streaming service, which is 12:00 a.m. (PT) or 3:00 a.m. (ET). In order to receive updates on when the show premieres on Netflix, interested viewers can also enable notifications. Of course, this is just speculation, and the fans should wait and keep a closer eye on the social media handles of the show to know about all the latest details and updates. Take a look at the official star cast clip, which teases certain plotlines for the upcoming season.
