NEW ONE CHICAGO PROMO! 🗣
— One Chicago (@NBCOneChicago) August 31, 2022
The three Chicago dramas have dominated Wednesday nights in total viewers, and the One Chicago lineup is poised to give NBC just its second Wednesday season-long win in total viewers in 17 years. All three series rank among television’s top seven most-watched dramas, and all three are generating double-digit digital growth this season versus last.
In Live+7 Nielsens, Chicago Med is delivering 11.0 million viewers, Fire is averaging 11.4 million, and P.D. is attracting 11.0 million, with a 1.7 rating in adults 18-49 for Med, a 1.9 for Fire, and a 2.0 for P.D.
Will Carmela Zumbado return as Anna Avalos in Chicago P.D. Season 10?
Viewers who have seen the final episode of Chicago P.D. Season 9 already know what the faith has in store for Anna Avalos in the series’ upcoming season. The finale episode, You and Me, was released on May 25, 2022, and viewers by 5.98 million US viewers. The official synopsis reads, “After an explosion rocks the case, the team scrambles to finally take down Escano as everyone nears their breaking point.” As we know that Avalos was in a relationship with a man before meeting Sergeant Hank Voight, and the two had a kid named Rafa.
Her family had a history with the Los Temidos gang, with whom she was secretly working. She stabs Javier Escano to death and attempts to flee after deciding she no longer wants to be Voight’s CI but is apprehended by Hank, Upton, and Halstead. Hearing police sirens approaching, Anna panics and shoots Voight in the shoulder, prompting Hailey to shoot her twice in the chest. Anna is taken to the hospital, but she dies as a result of her injuries, leaving Voight to mourn.
Given how things ended for Anna, it’s unlikely that Zumbado will return to the series. Avalos will not appear in the upcoming season of Chicago P.D., but her untimely demise ensures that she will be remembered. The only way to bring Anna back now is through flashbacks. If the fans want to see them, the writers may incorporate these scenes in future episodes.
However, Voight could be imagining her, but the program has never gone down this road before, and there have been some huge fatalities over the years. That isn’t to say we won’t sense Anna’s presence. Voight will almost certainly blame himself for Anna’s death. When she wanted to go, he persuaded her to stay underground. The plotlines and character arcs can be further experimented with to make it interesting.
