In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the madness for Phase 4 is just getting started.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is, without a doubt, the film that has generated the most buzz. It is the direct follow-up to Doctor Strange (2016). The film is a culmination of various projects that viewers saw last year, including WandaVision (2021), Loki: Season 1 (2021), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).
The highly anticipated sequel will be released in theaters on May 6, 2022, as a part of the MCU Phase 4, directed by the one and only Sam Raimi. He gave us one of the best interpretations of the Spider-Man live-action movies in the trilogy, starring Tobey Maguire (Peter Parker).
Fans worldwide have faith in his abilities to bring something new to this film. People undoubtedly anticipate that the plot will include the Vision of horror elements that Sam Raimi is known for portraying and executing flawlessly on the big screen.
The wait is almost over, as the film will be released worldwide in just one month, and all theories will be answered. Until then, we’ll have to rely on fan theories and new promotional materials to learn more about the film’s potential plot. Some of the further details revealed are as follows:
Tommy and Billy Maximoff from WandaVision are back!
The recently released TV spot titled Dream has fans talking about the seemingly endless possibilities and story arcs that the plot appears to be heading in. It’s only a one-minute teaser with a lot of stuff to unpack.
The TV spot is a mix of previously released and newly released footage. However, the most intriguing revelation comes from Wanda’s point of view, as she appears to reunite with her two children, Billy and Tommy (Julian Hilliard and Jett Klyne), briefly.
Wanda says in the voice-over that daily “nightmares haunt her.” Given these words, it’s unclear whether trying to reunite with her boys is legitimate or just a figment of her imagination, or whether Marvel Studios purposefully pieced together the trailer this way to heighten rumors about Billy and Tommy’s official MCU comeback.

It is great to see that the promotional material gives the same treatment to Scarlet Witch, just like Doctor Strange. After all, the events of previous installments of the franchise have caused her enough pain.

We know that she gave up her perfect ending with Vision and her sons, Billy and Tommy; she was left alone and completely heartbroken, which may have prompted her to seek answers in the Darkhold, as seen at the end of the post-credit scene from the series, WandaVision.
At around 15 seconds in, we could also hear the voices of her twin sons, Billy and Tommy, from where the story for Wanda Maximoff is assumed to pick up in this movie.
The intriguing parallels between Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange:
While Nightmares plague Wanda, the sorcerer describes his own “nightmares.” It’ll be fascinating to see if this connection is what eventually brings the two together in the MCU sequel.
Wanda and Strange reunite to take on the multiverse, as seen in the previous Doctor Strange 2 trailer footage, but it is gearing up to be a much darker and more potent threat than ever before.
If Wanda’s children do appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, this may change things between them and what outcomes their decisions will have in the multiverse.
