Doom Patrol Season 4 Part 2: Potential Spoilers

If you’d prefer not to learn about these spoilers, we suggest you stop reading now!

Before the final credits roll, Doom Patrol Season 4, Episode 6, “Hope Patrol,” sets up three potentially catastrophic events. The first is the information that Cliff Steele managed to save one of the zombie Butts that had been wreaking havoc on the team earlier this season. After Cliff rushes to help his teammates, the said zombie Butt escapes from the ice where it was kept. The threat posed by Immortus is another, and it now appears that it will arrive soon after Larry Trainor voluntarily gives the godlike creature control of his superhuman longevity. The threat Larry poses to himself comes last. The superhero in bandages imagines a scenario in which his unchecked radiation wipes out the universe, completing the doomsday trifecta from the Doom Patrol midseason finale.

As per CBR.com, Doom Patrol showrunner Jeremy Carver discussed two of the show’s three cataclysmic concerns, Immortus and the Butts, Notably, Carver explained that while both are capable of causing equal amounts of havoc, the Doom Patrol’s showdown with Immortus will have bigger ramifications for the show’s canon. “The existence of Immortus is an ever-looming threat. I will say it is a parallel threat to the Butts destroying the Earth,” he said. “So, they have a couple of very big battles on their hands. The search for Immortus and the effort to stop Immortus is going to unearth some seasons-long mysteries that have been dangling out there. It’s going to help the Doom Patrol understand themselves and their creations just a little bit more.”

Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of superpowered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. According to reports, Season 4 starts when the team unexpectedly travels to the future and finds an unwanted surprise.
