Much to viewers’ delight, after months of waiting, we finally got some updates about the next season!
Speaking to ET’s Denny Directo last week on April 18, 2023, at the Academy of Museum of Motion Pictures for the ninth annual Breakthrough Prize Ceremony, the 34-year-old actress opened up a bit about what fans can expect in Emily in Paris Season 4 and if she can see the show go beyond the fourth season, as it was long ago renewed, but there’s still no word on when fans can expect to stream it.
Collins, who superbly played the brilliant marketer Emily Cooper, says she is unsure of how Emily’s story will develop in season 4, but viewers can anticipate a lot of the show’s most compelling elements. She commented, “I just know, obviously, the many cliffhangers, and there are multiple ways in which it could go,” she says. “I just know that there’s gonna be obviously more drama, more laughs and more fashion, and more travel.”
That’s not all, as Collins also made a confession to ET back in December, stating, “I heard all the endings and thought they were alts.” Further adding, “Then I realized they were all the endings at once. I was like, ‘Wait, there’s a wedding and then there’s a wedding that doesn’t happen, or this engagement that turns into a wedding that turns into a non-wedding, which turns into a pregnancy announcement, which turns into, like, ‘What the f**k? What!'”
*Spoiler Alert*
So, it makes perfect sense why Collins made that confession because you’ll know that the third season of Emily in Paris ended with the finale episode, “Charade,” which left the fandom speculating about what will happen next. The cliffhanger was quite exciting and unexpected, as the viewers got to see that after waiting for so long, nothing is in their way any longer, and the wedding between Camille and Gabriel has been put off. After realizing the extent of Emily and Gabriel’s feelings for one another, Alfie stormed off.
So, the next season is expected to pick up right where it left off for an ideal continuation of the story. Furthermore, Netflix’s Tudum confirmed that Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) will continue her journey of self-discovery in the City of Light. Both Seasons 3 and 4 will have to contend with the life-altering decision Emily makes for herself at the end of Season 2, which we’ve yet to hear. The last time we left Miss Cooper, she was forced to reckon with a major decision:
Stay at the Gilbert Group, which had rather unceremoniously taken over the Savoir offices, and return home to Chicago after a year as she’d always planned – or join Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) at her new marketing firm, throwing caution to the wind and fully embracing the Parisian way of life by making a permanent home there.
The next two seasons also deal with the fallout of Camille (Camille Razat) moving in with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), which Emily only learns after she finally confesses her feelings for him. This all begs yet another question: Will she break off her now-long-distance relationship with Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) after realizing her feelings for Gabriel? Or will she pursue Alfie now that Gabriel is back with Camille?
With all the building hype of the new chapter of Emily Cooper’s journey to finding herself, Collins is also crossing her fingers along with the fandom that the series will continue through season 4. She commented, “I can totally see it going on and on and on, but I think we have to leave it to people and fans to watch it and love it and hope that we can get to do more,” she said. Further stating, “So, everyone, please love it.”
On the other hand, for the most asked question right now we can confirm that the release date remains a mystery, but if you recall back in September 2022, Variety reported that Emily of Paris Season 4 was in production alongside Season 3, which is expected to premiere sometime around December 2023. Of course, this is all conjecture, and the network will confirm these details in the coming months as production wraps up on time.
We know that all the prior three seasons had a similar one-year gap, so this certainly clears any doubts in the minds of fans if we consider the production timeline set over the last three successful seasons. The episodes will all also have the same time slot of 2:00 a.m. (PT) or 3:00 a.m. (ET), with every new episode dropping on the same day. In order to receive updates on when the show premieres, interested viewers can also enable notifications.
Additionally, the official Twitter handle also confirmed the renewal, quoting, “Emily in Paris has been renewed for Season 3—and Season 4!” Take a look at the official announcement below:
