Euphoria Season 3: When will the series return?
After learning the news about the series being renewed for a much anticipated third season back in February 2022, the fans were expecting the production to start soon this year. But sadly, the third season production was disrupted by the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, with Jeremy O. Harris calling out to David Zaslav, saying, “He’s not a scab. David Zaslav, make a deal. That’s what I’ll say about Season 3 of ‘Euphoria.’ Make a deal, David. It’s easy. Just come to that table.”
Moreover, in a recent Deadline interview with HBO’s Drama Chief Francesca Orsi, she stated, “Euphoria is one of those that we had begun writing in tandem with post-production on Idol, but at this point, we don’t have countless scripts.” Further adding, “We can’t start shooting, so the delivery of that show — ideally in 2025 — will be determined on when we can pick back up with Sam, who at this point is all pencils down and just finishing posts on Idol.”
Hence, it’s clear that the third season will premiere sometime around 2025!
As, Levinson’s commitment to The Idol, Zendaya’s packed schedule, along with the writer’s strike has also played a part in the delay, which will be longer than what everyone was anticipating. But on the bright side, it is great to get an official release window, as the show creators will get some time to explore the theme and what direction the plot will take in the new episode, as HBO’s CEO Casey Bloys said the series could go beyond four seasons and would not end after season three.
Also, take a look at the post below from the Twitter handle of the series, also confirming the news, quoting, “#EUPHORIA has been renewed for season 3.”

Euphoria Season 3: What to expect from the new season?
After the third season’s renewal, Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, stated, “Sam, Zendaya, and the entire cast and crew of Euphoria have taken Season 2 to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form while maintaining its heart. We couldn’t be more honored to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into Season 3.”
The latest reports circulating all over social media, the time jump in Euphoria Season 3 could last up to five years.
The finale of Euphoria Season 2 also alluded to a time jump, and since then, rumors have abounded about how many years in the future the third season of the show will be set and what it will look like. In a recent interview with Vogue, a costume designer from the show revealed potential details about Season 3’s time jump. Heidi Bivens stated, “There is talk of it being approximately five years in the future,” with the characters no longer in high school.
Read her full comments, and quote, “I’ll do everything I can to make the third season of the show successful. I’m really excited to read the scripts. There is talk of it being approximately five years in the future, and that they’re not in high school anymore. Dorothy’s not in Kansas anymore. I mean, it might be a total trip. Who can say? But knowing Sam’s brain, it’s gonna be exciting, and he will challenge all of us because he won’t want to repeat himself. It’ll be something new for the audience to discover.”
Even Though these comments gave some insight it was later reported that Heidi Bivens, the costume designer, will not be returning for Season 3. Season 2 assistant costume designer Angelina Vitto will take over the role. Moreover, Zendaya, who plays Ruby “Rue” Bennett, kind of added an official seal to these time jump reports in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, when asked, “What are you as a producer and an actor hoping to see in season three?”
She replied: “I think it’ll be exciting to explore the characters out of high school. I want to see what Rue looks like in her sobriety journey, and how chaotic that might look. But also with all the characters, in the sense where they’re trying to figure out what to do with their lives when high school is over and what kind of people they want to be. What was special about this season was that we got to dive into [the other characters] in a much deeper sense. I think we can do that again in the third season. There’s so much talent, you want to make sure everybody has the chance to have that.”
