Devoted fans of the beloved 1990 film “Home Alone” were sent into a frenzy when a trailer surfaced on YouTube featuring the original cast of Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, and Daniel Stern. The fake trailer, which hinted at a potential third installment, portrayed a grown-up Kevin McCallister (Culkin).

The preview was set three decades after the events of “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” showcasing the mischievous character squaring off against the Wet Bandits for one last showdown. The flawlessly crafted trailer has prompted fans to beg the creators to turn it into a real movie.

What happens in the fake trailer?

In the opening scene, now, old Culkin discovers a mysterious red bag on his doorstep, revealing a card with a photo of his old foes, Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern), with the words: “We’re back little buddy,” declaring their return. Spotting the familiar “Oh-Kay Plumbing and Heating” van, trouble looms in his neighborhood.

The trailer’s voiceover sets the stage for a holiday rediscovery of the classic, saying, “This holiday season, it’s time to rediscover a classic. Kevin Mcallister is back – except this family is a little weird around Christmas.” The clip takes viewers on a chaotic journey with booby traps, SWAT teams, and even someone set on fire. Notably, “Home Alone” alum Catherine O’Hara also makes an appearance.

Fans hope the fake trailer could materialize into a real film

Despite the trailer being fake and cleverly pieced together from various television shows, movies, and commercials, some viewers are hoping that it could materialize into a real film.

“I haven’t been to the cinema in a long time, but if they make this parody into a real movie, I’ll grab my money and go to the cinema in an instant. I swear,” expressed one eager fan. Another person confidently declared, “Everyone would go to the theaters for this.” A third fan chimed in, “I don’t care if this is only a parody; I totally could see this being an actual movie.”

There’s even optimism that the video’s rising popularity might propel it to the silver screen. “This parody is still pretty recent! If everybody shows enough high demand in the comments, we could convince them to make this a real movie,” one fan explained.  “Legacy sequels are trending right now (hocus pocus 2, good burger 2, Mary Poppins returns, etc.) so this is DEFINITELY possible to make happen as a true Home Alone 2 sequel!”

Catherine O’Hara praises Macaulay Mulkin

In a recent milestone, Culkin was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony in Los Angeles saw the presence of O’Hara, 69, who delivered a heartfelt speech.

“‘Home Alone’ was, is, and always will be a beloved global sensation,” expressed the veteran. She emphasized that the reason families worldwide make it a tradition to watch and cherish ‘Home Alone’ is because of Macaulay Culkin. According to O’Hara, Culkin made acting appear effortlessly natural, bringing his “sweet and twisted, yet totally relatable sense of humour to every project.”

In her congratulatory conclusion, O’Hara warmly acknowledged Culkin, stating, “Macaulay, congratulations. You so deserve your star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And thank you for including me, your fake mom who left you home alone not once but twice, to share in this happy occasion. I’m so proud of you.”
