Will our beloved FBI agents make it back to our screens in 2023?
Here is everything we know about FBI: Most Wanted Season 5!
Ever since the inception of the FBI franchise, the fandom has only expanded, but particularly the fandom for FBI: Most Wanted saw an exceptional rise. This is probably due to the creative imagination of the writers who cultivate enthralling cases that put the most wanted crimes on the list, and by list, we mean the list of the most wanted criminals. Every progressing case tends to be better than the last, and viewers are caught in the enticing web of the inexhaustible crime genre. The best part about the series is that the crimes get more and more organized with each progressing case, making it even more challenging for the FBI to untangle them.
This invigorated allure that FBI: Most Wanted has bestowed upon its viewers has got them twiddling their thumbs over the prospect of Season 6 after the Season 5 finale left us in the throes of a major cliffhanger.
If you are one of the viewers wondering about any recent updates on FBI: Most Wanted amidst uncertain times, you have come to the right place. We have a few new updates regarding the release date as well as a shocking cast shakeup! Continue reading to find out.
FBI: Most Wanted Season 5 Release Date
It seems like the fate of scripted shows is tainted. At least for the fall season in 2023. This is owing to the strike situation that is boiling over like hot water in a kettle, with no intention of simmering down. So where does this leave our beloved FBI: Most Wanted Season 5?
Due to the far-fetched popularity that the show has garnered over the years, it is no surprise that FBI: Most Wanted was renewed on May 2022 for a double-season feature for Season 4 and Season 5! While the Season 4 finale aired on May 23rd, 2023, fans have been left panting for more updates on Season 5 because they know it is coming.

Nevertheless, it seems like the FBI: Most Wanted Season 5 finale was not enough for the writers to finish scripts because the WGA was already in strike mode. All hopes of any updates were further crushed when SAG AFTRA joined in on the strike rendering the filming for the season obsolete.
Ever since then, CBS has had to re-arrange the fall schedule that they had planned to release amidst the strike due to the uncertainty of the unwavering protests that are still in continuation. Much like its competitor networks, CBS has decided to postpone the fall calendar to a mid-season release, which translates to us viewing FBI: Most Wanted on our screens by mid-2024 (preferably the 1st quarter, provided the strike dies out within the next month or two). However, escaping reality is not suitable, so if the strike does continue till the end of the year, the network will be obligated to switch up its schedule yet again and give us new dates for the release, so nothing is set in stone. However, on our part, we will bring you fresh news regarding the same whenever we come across an update.
FBI: Most Wanted Season 5 Cast
Unfortunately, there is a major character who will not be joining us for Season 5. We will get to that in a bit. Before that, let us take a look at the cast who will be reprising their roles for FBI: Most Wanted Season 5:
- Dylan McDermott as Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott
- Roxy Sternberg as Special Agent Sheryll Barnes
- Keisha Castle-Hughes as Special Agent Hana Gibson
- Edwin Hodge as Special Agent Ray Cannon
On the other hand, due to a striking deal with CBS on budgets that will put the series on the air for another season, producers at Universal Television and Dick Wolf’s studio-based Wolf Entertainment are cutting talent expenditures. To keep the budget in check, CBS may surprise us with a few cast shakeups. When that does happen, we will be sure to inform you of the same.
FBI: Most Wanted Season 5 Characters That Won’t Return
The news likely will come as a surprise to fans became there was no hint in the Season 4 finale that Davalos’ character, Special Agent Kristin Gaines, will be departing the series from Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television. (via Deadline)
The clarity in the script regarding the character’s exit is yet to be analyzed, given that the scripts haven’t been completed yet due to the strike situation.
Gaines originally joined the team as a replacement for Kenny Crosby, who was written off in the Season 3 premiere due to the departure of original series regular cast member Kellan Lutz. From what can be observed, this position seems jinxed, as no permanency is being maintained.
Like other Wolf Entertainment procedurals, FBI: Most Wanted has gone through cast changeovers, which typically are driven by creative or financial reasons — or a combination of both.
Regardless, we will inform you if there are any more cast changes before the series is released.
FBI: Most Wanted Season 5 Expected Plot
*Spoiler Alert*
The next season is expected to pick up from the fourth season’s final episode, “Heaven Falling,” which was directed by Ken Girotti and written by David Hudgins. Mikey was unfortunately murdered, and Remy set out on a daunting mission to catch hold of the killer 25 years after the incident occurred. Will they finally avenge Mikey’s death and put the killer behind bars? We won’t know until 2024, so we urge the viewers to remain patient. It will be worth it.
