The finale of Season 6 saw Tiffany shoot Hakim Siran, who appeared to be genuinely surrendering. The fans breathed a sigh of relief when OA arrived and found a gun when they turned Siran’s body around, justifying Tiffany’s actions. However, with this revelation comes the question of where Tiffany’s storyline will go from here.
Katherine Renee Kane, who plays Tiffany, wants her character to have some relaxing moments and levity in both her personal and professional life.
While it’s still unclear what the future holds for the other agents, one thing is certain the FBI is not going anywhere soon since CBS ordered three more seasons of the police procedural drama in April.
From cast shakeups to the premiere episode title revelation, the new season seems just as exciting as the previous ones, if not more.
To understand where Season 7 of the series will pick up from, let us take a look at how Season 6 left things off.
FBI Season 6: A Recap
*Spoilers*
Unlike every other Dick Wolf franchise series, Season 6 did not leave the fans shrouded with a cliffhanger. The major seasonal criminal, a terrorist organization leader Hakim Siran was caught, and fans even saw Maggie (Missy Peregym) return to the show. Although professionally sorted, the personal lives of our New York Agents are far from perfect, and it seems like everyone is trying to get a grip on themselves and juggling personal and professional lives.
Maggie lost focus on her work while executing guardianship over her late colleague’s daughter Ella, and was frequently underperforming. OA and Isobel were worried that the agents were not paying attention to their tasks and were more bothered with their personal lives. Scola became a full-time dad at home and his fatherhood troubles were showing up at work too. On the other hand, Jubal, whose godson was selling fentanyl was advised by his former colleague to turn a blind eye to the boy’s activities, which messed with his morality as an FBI agent.
Finally, Tiffany seriously toed the line as she continued making questionable phone calls to unknown numbers, consumed by vengeance to try and avenge Hobbs’ death. While the rest of the crew was somewhat distracted, Tiffany carried most of the operation in capturing Hakim. Her future on the show, after she fulfilled her only purpose seems uncertain.
Zeeko Zaki, who plays OA on FBI told Screen Rant: “The final episode is a full-circle moment from our first episode, which is really exciting.” He further said, “We don’t usually leave cliffhangers or villains that getaway, so it’s nice to get an opportunity to close that loop. It’s also great to, again, just show how strong of a team we are and to show our unity through multiple characters’ perspectives.”
He concluded by saying, “This is definitely a fun chapter closing on a pretty intense villain and what he did to us, and what he did to one of our own, and things like that. It’s just going to be a very well-earned ‘getting that guy’ moment.”
When will it be released?
The entire Dick Wolf franchise, which has secured same-day season premieres, will release on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, on CBS. FBI Season 7 will kick off the premiere marathon at 8 pm E.T., followed by FBI: Most Wanted Season 6 at 9 pm E.T., rounding off with FBI: International at 10 pm E.T.
FBI Season 7: Cast Shakeups
Deadline confirmed that Katherine Renee Kane (who plays Tiffany) will leave the show in Season 7, and Season 6 was potentially her final season. Shane wrote, “It was time to look towards new creative endeavors. I’m excited for the future and wish the show all the best.” It might be the accurate time for her departure given that she completed an exhaustive task of catching Hakim and avenging Hobbs, giving her a moment of peace and clarity.
However, she will not be abruptly written off as Deadline confirmed that Kane will be appearing for at least one episode in Season 7 to wrap up her storyline before leaving. Kane will be the first to depart the show in a long time after Kristin Chazal’s exit in Season 2.
The void will be filled by Lisette Olivera (National Treasure: Edge of History), who will join the series as a regular from Season 7. Olivera is set to play Syd, who according to the description provided by Radio Times, is “a trained behavioural analysis unit agent who is about to rotate into the field.”
Other than this major change, we expect the following members to reprise their roles for the next season:
- Missy Peregrym as Maggie Bell
- Zeeko Zaki as Omar Adom “OA” Zidan
- Jeremy Sisto as Jubal Valentine
- Alana De La Garza as Isobel Castille
- John Boyd as Stuart Scola
- Taylor Anthony Miller as Kelly Moran
- Vedette Lim as Elise Taylor
- James Chen as Ian Lim
Additionally, Deadline has updated that we may not see the series regulars in every episode of the season as a cost-cutting measure, which is also being employed by Dick Wolf for its spinoff counterparts. Grey’s Anatomy also went through the same measures in its two-decade television run.
FBI Season 7 New Synopsis Analysis
CBS has released a brand new synopsis for Season 7 of the show, which determines the trajectory the story will adopt in the upcoming season. The premiere episode is titled ‘Abandoned,’ which will air on October 15.
The official synopsis for ‘Abandoned’ reads, “The assassination of a seemingly ordinary Brooklyn plumber launches the team into a globe-spanning investigation that ruffles feathers with the CIA. Meanwhile, Tiffany struggles with fieldwork in the aftermath of the Hakim.” As suggested, the season will pick up with a cold-blooded murder case of a plumber from Brooklyn, that will demand the FBI team to gather its expansive research to catch a culprit that is hopping countries internationally. This means that the murderer is part of a much larger problem, which the FBI needs to solve at a global level.
We can also guess how Tiffany’s story on the show will come to an end given her “struggles” in the new case after she used all her might to solve the Hakim case last season. This might mean she is growing tired of participating in an active chase and needs to end her journey here before complicating it further.
While we are not clear about how the rest of the season will proceed, we can assume that it will employ the usual case-by-week format that all Dick Wolf crime procedural dramas do. Apart from this, there may be a greater emphasis on the personal lives of the agents, whether it’s Maggie tending to Elle, or Scola balancing parenthood and work. There is no official trailer yet for Season 7 of FBI, but here is an official synopsis of the show.
“From Emmy Award winner Dick Wolf and the team behind the Law & Order brand, FBI is a fast-paced drama about the inner workings of the New York office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This elite unit brings to bear all their talents, intellect, and technical expertise on major cases in order to keep New York and the country safe.
“Born into a multigenerational law enforcement family, Special Agent Maggie Bell commits deeply to the people she works with as well as those she protects. Her partner is Special Agent Omar Adom ‘OA’ Zidan, a West Point graduate via Bushwick who spent two years undercover for the DEA before being cherry-picked by the FBI. Overseeing them is Special Agent in Charge Isobel Castille, who operates under intense pressure and has undeniable command authority. The team also includes Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine, the nerve center of the office whose ability to easily relate to and engage with both superiors and subordinates makes him a master motivator. The smart and outspoken Special Agent Tiffany Wallace, who spent six years with the NYPD, is a partner to Special Agent Stuart Scola, an Ivy League-educated Wall Streeter-turned-FBI agent. These first-class agents tenaciously investigate cases of tremendous magnitude, including terrorism, organized crime, and counterintelligence.”
FBI Season 7: Episode Count
While CBS has not given an official episode count of the series for Season 17, TV Guide assumes it will range from 19-23 episodes, which has been the norm for the earlier seasons of the show. Only Season 6 had 13 episodes, which was impacted by the SAG AFTRA and WGA strikes last year.
