On Rotten Tomatoes, it received a 71% approval rating with an average rating of 7/10 based on 86 reviews. The website’s critical consensus reads, “Foundation‘s big-budget production and impressive performances are a sight to behold, but it struggles to wrangle the behemoth that is its source material into a fully satisfying series.”

Goyer is coming back sooner than they anticipated, and the official release date for the series was announced a few hours ago and confirmed that it will return for season two this summer streaming season, Friday, July 14, 2023, on Apple TV+.

Foundation Season 2 Plot
Based on the award-winning novels by Isaac Asimov, Foundation chronicles a band of exiles on their monumental journey to save humanity and rebuild civilization amid the fall of the Galactic Empire. The official synopsis o the second season states:
More than a century after the season one finale, tension mounts throughout the galaxy in “Foundation” season two. As the Cleons unravel, a vengeful queen plots to destroy the Empire from within. Hari, Gaal, and Salvor discover a colony of Mentalics with psionic abilities that threaten to alter psychohistory itself.
The Foundation has entered its religious phase, promulgating the Church of Seldon throughout the Outer Reach and inciting the Second Crisis: war with Empire. The monumental adaptation of “Foundation” chronicles the stories of four crucial individuals transcending space and time as they overcome deadly crises, shifting loyalties, and complicated relationships that will ultimately determine the fate of humanity.
Foundation Season 2 Cast and Crew
The season features an international cast led by Emmy-nominated actors Jared Harris and Lee Pace, alongside rising stars Lou Llobell and Leah Harvey. Also starring returning cast Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, and Terrence Mann, season two of “Foundation” introduces new characters and stars, including Isabella Laughland (Brother Constant), Kulvinder Ghir (Poly Verisof), Ella-Rae Smith (Queen Sareth of Cloud Dominion), Holt McCallany (Warden Jaegger Fount), Rachel House (Tellem Bond), Nimrat Kaur (Yanna Seldon), Ben Daniels (Bel Riose) and Dimitri Leonidas (Hober Mallow).

The second season will include a total of 10 episodes with an average runtime of 45–69 minutes per episode, which will debut globally with one episode on Friday, July 14 on Apple TV+, followed by new episodes weekly, every Friday.
