Opening with 88.84 million hours of viewership in the first four days of its availability, FUBAR has become one of the most critically-acclaimed shows on Netflix. Sensing that the audience couldn’t get enough of the father-daughter duo, Netflix renewed the show for another season during its TUDUM event.
In the first season, we see Arnold Schwarzenegger’s CIA agent Luke Brunner finding common ground with his fellow operative daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro). However, he is also, on the other, juggling to land a safe territory. This bittersweetness is also echoed in Boro’s (Gabriel Luna) life, who is healthy and truly despatched.
However, this happened at the risk of their covers being blown, putting them at risk of all kinds of perils. When a season like FUBAR ends on such cliffhangers, what else do you expect apart from increasing anticipation and restlessness from the viewers?
Feeling even more anxious and restless after reading this? Don’t worry because we bring some good news to you.
When can we expect FUBAR season 2 to arrive on Netflix?
Netflix has not revealed the exact release date of FUBAR season 2 yet. Considering that the show has just been renewed, we expect that it will take a while before we get to stream it on our screens again. We contend that the series will go into production by the end of this year, and we will get to stream in the latter part of 2024.
Be that as it may, this speculation can only concretize into reality if the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike cease to continue. The strikes have pushed the release schedules of numerous popular shows, including the likes of The Last of Us season 2 and Stranger Things season 5.
What can we expect to happen in FUBAR season 2?
*Spoiler alert*
In the season one finale, we saw Luke on the lam, stranded with his family and the CIA team, except, of course, Tina, who is stuck in the office. The most captivating father and daughter duo Luke and Emma, have finally found a way to work together as CIA operatives. However, this was not possible without hours of picking fights with each other and attending joint therapy sessions. This cessation of fights infiltrated the private family drama when Emma told her father to chase her mum Tally since she was too set to remarry.
However, we don’t know what happens after that, and the audience is left hanging in the air. Will Luke stop the wedding? Will they be reunited? It seems that only the second season can tell. In addition to the comic relief, the second season is also expected to unravel the real identity of Tina, especially after Barry’s girlfriend, Tina, was suspiciously talking over the phone in Russian.
Expressing gratitude to his fans about the season finale on social media, Schwarzenegger writes, “It was really interesting how many of the fans loved the last episode. Because the interesting thing is, it is also my favorite episode. I don’t want to give it away, but there is some really wild stuff and it really sets it up for the next for the next season.”
Actor Aparna Brielle, who plays Tina, expressed her optimism in regard to the future of the show and her character. Brielle commented that she would like to do more stunts outside of the office, similar to what other cast members did in the first season.
In a conversation with ScreenRant, she said, “I loved all the things I got to do and play with. Knowing that I will get to do those things makes it that much sweeter because I feel like I got to spend so much time watching everyone.
“I’m already thinking about the future, and it gives me more time to develop things like the fact that maybe she fights a little differently than everyone. Maybe she moves a little differently than everyone when you see the real her, whoever that is. So, I had FOMO, but it also bought me time to play a little bit.”
Per Digital Spy, the series creator Nick Santora described the show as “by far the most surreal” project of his career. He said, “I grew up watching Arnold Schwarzenegger films – I’d hit my dad up for a few bucks so I could race to the movies and see the biggest star in the world on the big screen, so creating the first scripted television project for Arnold is unbelievably exciting for me.
“The thing I always marvelled at was how Schwarzenegger could be funny while still kicking ass. That’s why I wanted FUBAR to be a hysterical, CIA-spy comedy mixed with heart-stopping action! And it is all that – and more.”
Who are the cast members of FUBAR season 2?
The second season would be incomplete without Arnold Schwarzenegger’s CIA agent Luke Brunner and the character’s daughter, Emma, played by Monica Barbaro.
In addition to his duo, we also expect the following cast members to reprise their respective roles:
- Fortune Feimster as Roo
- Jay Baruchel as Carter
- Aparna Brielle as Tina
- Andy Buckley as Donnie
- Barbara Eve Harris as Dot
- Gabriel Luna as Boro
- Milan Carter as Barry
- Fabiana Udenio as Tally
- Travis Van Winkle as Aldon
Speaking to Variety recently, Barbaro revealed that her off-screen dynamic with Schwarzenegger runs parallel with their characters. She said:
“It was kind of perfect that we had this father-daughter dynamic because we would just give each other shit all day. I think that helped us a lot to find that sort of familial chemistry. He was also kind enough to let me ask him anything about his experience and all of that.”
