Gaslit Season 1 Episode 5: A Quick Recap
The previous episode, Honeymoon, was released on May 22, 2022. The episode was directed by Matt Ross and written by Robbie Pickering & Anayat Fakhraie. The official synopsis of the episode states, “Martha finally speaks out, putting a strain on her marriage; the FBI comes closer to an answer on the real story behind Watergate and John Dean is forced to come clean to Mo on their Camp David honeymoon.” Moreover, the episode is estimated to be viewed by 0.208 million US viewers. We have highlighted the key takeaways of the episode that happened without spoiling major plotlines.
First, take a look at the official clip of the episode:
The episode starts with Martha going all out on Nixon. She alleges Nixon was responsible for the Watergate break-in live on The Mike Douglas Show. While Douglas argues that Martha would be the first to accuse Nixon of being a criminal, Martha is confident that she would not be the last.
Meanwhile, John Dean marries Moo, and Martha is seen hanging out with her journalist friend Winnie, who is working on a book on Martha but is having trouble dealing with her mental health. There is now another person, in addition to Martha, who is discussing Nixon’s role in the Watergate scandal. Also, Moo and Dean’s actual honeymoon plans were canceled because the White House is now being portrayed in a scandalous light.

While Dean opposes this, he learns on television that Nixon has declared that Dean will be providing a report, despite his objections. Moo then plods on, convincing him that the best course of action is for him to come clean with his findings. On the other hand, John Mitchell, who has been anxious to get back into Nixon’s good graces, dials Nixon’s number to set up a meeting.
He learns, however, that Nixon and his posse of boys are attempting to tape John Mitchell discussing his involvement. John recognizes this and gives them all nothing, save maybe pinning them down for three more scandals they may have committed during Nixon’s reign.

Meanwhile, the FBI head admits to his team that he has been leaking key information about their investigation in one of the episode’s funniest scenes. Agent Lano and Magallanes decide to go after Jeb Magruder because they have the upper hand. They sit in front of Magruder’s house until Gail, Magruder’s wife, walks in and sits in the backseat, telling them to back off since she is attempting to persuade her husband to rat out as well.
