“Which ghost got sucked off into the afterlife?”
Since this is the cliffhanger we were left with in Season 2, which aired in September 2022 on the CBS network, we are also scratching our heads over the same question. Are you ready to be back in the mansion full of spirits and two living souls for another comedic season of Ghosts?
Well, we have some good news for you. CBS has renewed Ghosts for a Season 3 after the wide popularity it garnered after its release. Most people went to check it out with the idea of it being gory horror series (me being one of them), but as it turns out, this is a comedy-drama series. Ghosts had the audience glued to their screens ever since its inception. Since Season 2 left us in the throes of a massive cliffhanger, fans are wondering when Season 3 will be back to tell us who finally got sucked off into the afterlife, plus answer some pressing questions about how some ghosts died. The main question remains: Will we get to see Ghosts Season 3 in 2023?
Well, you have come to the right place with your queries, as we have all the updated information regarding the same. To continue reading:

Speaking on the series renewal for another Season, Amy Reichenbach, the President of CBS Entertainment, said,
“This season, executive producers Joe Port, Joe Wiseman, and the brilliant cast delivered episodes that far surpassed our expectations. From the opening of the Woodstone B&B to epic Halloween and Christmas episodes, we have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know our Ghosts even better. Much like our viewers, we love them more each and every week,” said Amy Reichenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. Further adding, “As the series continues to win fans on broadcast and streaming, we’re thrilled to bring back this touching and hilarious comedy for a third season.”
We will update this space as soon as more updates come our way.
Ghosts Season 3: Expected Release Date
Initially, CBS triggered our hopes of a 2023 fall renewal by releasing its fall schedule in May, and Ghosts was on it! However, this changed when the writers went on strike in May. Additionally, SAG AFTRA(actors union) joined in, causing a domino effect that led to productions and scripts getting halted indefinitely. Incidentally, the official networks released updated fall schedules, with CBS’ competitor network ABC braving through the strike and releasing their scripted series in the fall. Unfortunately, the CBS network took a more conservative route and decided to update its fall lineup, which contained unscripted shows and reruns. Unfortunately, Ghosts did not make the cut.
You will get consoled in knowing that writing must have started before the strike in May since the series was announced for renewal in January. So, for now, the production is what is affected. If the strike dissipates within the next two months and production for Ghosts Season 3 commences, we can expect its arrival by 2024 fall!

Ghosts Season 3: Plot and Episode Guide
*Spoiler Alert*
There is no official announcement on what premise Ghosts Season 3 will be based on, but we are guessing something along the lines of the primary plot: The series follows a struggling young couple, Samantha, played by McIver, and Jay, played by Ambudkar, whose dreams come true when they inherit a beautiful country house, only to find it’s both falling apart and inhabited by many of the deceased previous residents.
Season 3 will answer a few questions, like who was the ghost who got sucked off into the afterlife? Will Pete move on from his crush Alberta? Will Jay temporarily be able to see ghosts? Will we see a guest casting of the iZombie cast (a fan request)? Who will possess Sam and Jay next?
Since we do not have the official synopsis and episode guide for Ghosts Season 3, you can learn more about what Season 3 will hint at by following the episode guide of Ghosts Season 2. So here it is:
Episode 1: Spies: Sam enlists the ghosts to help secure a good review from an overly critical couple staying at the bed-and-breakfast; Isaac tries to integrate Nigel into his friend group.

Episode 5: Halloween 2: The Ghost of Hetty’s Past: A séance at Sam and Jay’s last-minute Halloween party conjures up a spirit from Hetty’s past; Isaac worries Nigel will be turned off by his ghost power.
Episode 6: The Baby Bjorn: Sam meets a Viking ghost at the Farnsbys’ house who has an unexpected connection to Thorfinn; Trevor devises a new method for the ghosts to trade favors.
Episode 7: Dumb Deaths: When a TV documentary crew comes to Woodstone Mansion to shoot an episode of “Dumb Deaths”; Pete confronts a hard truth about the day he died.
Episode 8: The Liquor License: Alberta’s expertise from her past comes in handy when Sam and Jay run into some complications during their Woodstone whiskey-tasting soiree; Trevor devises a ghost fraternity, which inspires a revelation from Isaac’s past.
Episode 9: The Christmas Spirit, Part One: When Jay’s sister Bela returns to Woodstone Mansion for a holiday visit and brings a male friend, Samantha makes it her mission to spark a holiday romance between them.
Episode 10: The Christmas Spirit, Part Two: Sam and Thorfinn get caught in the crossfire as the scheme Jay’s sister and the ghosts conjure up go awry; Isaac’s marriage to Beatrice sheds light on how apprehensive he has been in communicating his feelings to Nigel.
Episode 11: The Perfect Assistant: Sam and Jay are thrilled when they find a highly qualified assistant, but their new employee comes with some surprising baggage; Thorfinn tries to help his son deal with a bully.
Episode 12: The Family Business: Sam gives relationship advice to her and Jay’s assistant, Freddie, ignoring Hetty’s warning not to get too close to “the help”; Sasappis strikes up a romance with Jessica, the ghost who lives in Freddie’s car.
