Good Omens Season 1: What happened in the finale episode?
The finale episode, The Very Last Day of the Rest of Their Lives, is directed by Douglas Mackinnon and written by Neil Gaiman. The episode was released in the UK on February 19, 2020, and the original date was on May 31, 2019. In the episode, the viewers got to see that Aziraphale is poised to shoot Adam, but when Madam Tracy refuses to allow him to shoot a kid, the weapon blasts into the air. Adam separates them after realizing they are two people in one body.
His companions triumph over war, pollution, and famine while Death departs. Lord Beelzebub and Gabriel arrive to make certain Adam restarts Armageddon in accordance with God’s Great Plan, but he refuses. Aziraphale takes a step ahead and inquires whether the Great Plan and God’s unfathomable plan are the same things. Realizing they are unsure, both parties withdraw. Satan appears but is rejected by Adam, who restores the world, including Aziraphale’s bookstore, Crowley’s Bentley, and the recently lost lives.
When their respective commanders find them guilty of treachery, Aziraphale is commanded to be incinerated by a hellish flame, and Crowley is forced to enter a tub of holy water. Both survive, much to everyone’s surprise. Heaven and Hell agree to leave Crowley and Aziraphale alone on Earth because they are afraid of what they have become.
Aziraphale and Crowley return to their natural bodies while sitting on a park seat. Agnes Nutter’s final prophecy was, “You must select your faces wisely,” which provided the secret to their survival. Anathema receives an updated prophecy book but chooses to trash it and go on with her life. Adam retains his talents. Madame Tracy and Shadwell plan to retire in a hamlet outside of London together. The series ends with Aziraphale and Crowley enjoying lunch at the Ritz, making a toast “to the world.”
