Harley Quinn Season 3 Plot
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Schumacker and co-showrunner Justin Halpern explained that Season 3 would focus on toxic relationships and deal heavily with Harley and Ivy’s newfound romance Said, “That’s the big thing for us to chew on,” Halpern said at the time. “The thing we have discussed preliminarily is the idea that these two characters have had a lot of toxic relationships in their past. Although Ivy and Kite Man wasn’t toxic, it also wasn’t an equal relationship, you know? He loved her a lot more than she loved him.”
The upcoming season is expected to pick up from the finale episode of the second season, Something Borrowed, Something Green, released on June 26, 2020. The episode was directed by Tom Derosier Juan Meza-Leon and written by Sarah Peters. The official synopsis of the episode states, “Ivy and Kite Man’s wedding plans are threatened to be derailed by an overzealous Commissioner Gordon who can’t resist a party with all of Gotham’s biggest villains; Ivy and Kite Man’s best chance at happiness is for Harley to come to the rescue..”
In the episode, the viewers got to see that, Ivy reveals she has the place Kite Man requested and persuades him to proceed with the wedding. While they are traveling to Arkham, Two-Face persuades him to arrest all of the villains present at the wedding so that Gordon can gain notoriety and one day run for mayor after listening to Gordon complain about not receiving any credit for defending Gotham. Harley, who was also incarcerated in Arkham, initially declines the offer from her crew to be set free so she can attend the wedding, but after finding out about Gordon’s plan from Two-Face, she joins him in escaping.
She assaults the wrong person while attempting to identify Gordon, angering Ivy, who orders her to leave. Despite this, Harley prevents Gordon from gassing everyone in attendance, but she also makes the wedding into a full-scale conflict between the bad guys and the GCPD. Kite Man breaks up with Ivy and departs after being frustrated and realizes she is not actually in love with him. After Ivy admits she has emotions for Harley, Harley and Ivy leave Gordon together and kiss.
