Heartstopper Season 2

Will there be Season 2 of Heartstopper?

As of now, Heartstopper has not been renewed for a second season. The first season of the show is freshly released, so we aren’t too worried at this point about the renewal status. Netflix will check the viewership and ratings before taking any further steps. We expect the series to receive immense love as the storyline seems pretty convincing and unique. Not to mention, the chemistry between the lead actors is off the charts!

Also, the source of the series is the novels written by Oseman, and there is a total of 4 books with 5 chapters in the story. So, there’re chances that the series will be picked up for a Season 2 and may be even more, depending upon the response.

What will Heartstopper Season 2 be about?

Since Season 1 covers Volume 1 and 2 of the novel, we expect Heartstopper Season 2 to jump to Volume 3 and cover the events of the part.

The official synopsis of Volume 3 reads: “Charlie didn’t think Nick could ever like him back, but now they’re officially boyfriends. Nick has even found the courage to come out to his mom. But coming out isn’t something that happens just once, and Nick and Charlie try to figure out when to tell their friends that they’re dating. Not being out to their classmates gets even harder during a school trip to Paris. As Nick and Charlie’s feelings get more serious, they’ll need each other more than ever.”

So, a probable Season 2 might just focus on Charlie and Nick’s relationship and delve deeper into their feelings.

What is the plot of Heartstopper?

The story revolves around the lives of two teenagers, Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring, who are made to sit together one day. They become friends quickly, and soon, Charlie finds himself falling for Nick. He doesn’t think he has a chance as Nick is a popular jock and dismisses the feelings as ‘pining after a straight boy he can’t ever have’. But soon, he realizes that Nick is also interested but facing an internal dilemma to come out as gay. The story is about how they overcome their battles and society’s judgments to finally confess that they are made for each other.

Heartstopper Cast

The main characters, Nick and Charlie are played by Kit Connor and Joe Locke.

Kit Connor says: “Their relationship between Nick and Charlie hits both by surprise – especially Nick. Originally it was just a friendship, and they enjoy spending time with each other. That’s when Nick realizes it may be something more.”

Joe Locke adds: “From the moment Charlie sees Nick, he has a crush on him, but to him, it just seems like he’s “pining after a straight boy”. He doesn’t see it as a realistic crush, which partly stems from his low self-esteem, but also, quite a lot of young gay people have that experience, where they don’t feel like their crushes will happen.”

There are some other newcomers as well. Yasmin Finney and William Gao will play Charlie’s best friends, Elle and Tao, who are missing each other after Elle moves schools. Corinna Brown and Kizzy Edgell are to play Tara and Darcy, a newly out couple dealing with all the attention coming out from their peers at school. Cormac Hyde-Corrin will be seen as a bullying rich boy, Harry, and Sebastian Croft as Ben, while Tobie Donovan and Rhea Norwood will play students Isaac and Imogen.
