Based on the 1975 television series of the same name, S.W.A.T. stars Shemar Moore as a former Marine and locally born and raised S.W.A.T. sergeant tasked with running a specialized tactical unit that is the last stop in law enforcement in Los Angeles. The show exists in a shared universe with the FX crime drama The Shield, which Ryan also created. This season follows with the aim of stopping a vicious drug lord whose heroin organization has extensive links to Los Angeles. 

Hondo, Deacon, and Tan work with Thailand’s elite S.W.A.T. unit. When a car bombing is linked to a terrorist organization plotting an assault in Los Angeles, the team joins the FBI in a joint task force, and Deacon’s personal tragedy sheds light on the roots of his religion. Deacon is caught off guard when his wife makes a parenting choice that has unanticipated ramifications. 

Their daughter as the team rushes to stop a shooter who is targeting recovery facilities and people he believes are to blame for his brother’s murder. A high-stakes effort to rescue an undercover detective from a violent crime ring involves S.W.A.T. and major crimes. The team works with the DEA to stop a ruthless cartel boss waging war on the streets of Los Angeles as he exacts revenge on those who killed his son.

The main cast members are as follows: Shemar Moore as Daniel Harrelson, Alex Russell as Jim Street, Kenny Johnson as Dominic Luca, David Lim as Victor Tan, Patrick St. Esprit as Robert Hicks, Rochelle Aytes as Nichelle Carmichael, and Jay Harrington as David Kay. It is produced by Sony Pictures Television and CBS Studios.
