Has the God of Mischief lived up to his name for the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

After more than two years of waiting, Marvel fans can finally rejoice as the highly anticipated second season of ‘Loki’ recently aired the premiere episode, “Ouroboros,” on Disney+ worldwide, which has without any doubt successfully been able to captivate audiences with its mind-bending storyline and impeccable performances from the star cast. After all, how can they not? It’s Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as the mischievous God of Mischief, delivering a tour de force performance that leaves viewers spellbound, which has been packed with thrilling action sequences, unexpected twists, and turns with a healthy dose of humor that Loki has been known for since the inception of the MCU.

As the fans began to binge-watch the premiere episode of ‘Loki’ Season 2, they were pleasantly surprised by the rollercoaster ride of emotions that were seen from the very first minute of the episode, which has left the die-hard fans eagerly anticipating what’s to come in the second episode. As the plot thickens, the stakes are raised, and viewers find themselves on the edge of their seats, unable to look away, which is quite evident with the new reports indicating that the season has already earned a record-breaking three-day premiere, which has helped Disney+ to once again solidified its position as the reigning champion of streaming platforms.

Loki Season 2 debuted last Thursday at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on October 5, 2023, in North America and on October 6, 2023, in most of the rest of the world. The season so far has tallied 10.9M global views in its first three days on the platform. With a 47-minute run time for the episode, that equates to about 512 million minutes (8.54 million hours) of total viewing, makes it the streamer’s second most-watched season premiere this year, coming in behind March’s Season 3 premiere of The Mandalorian. A view for Disney is defined as a total stream time divided by the runtime available.

Loki’s audience seems particularly strong, which makes sense as it’s not just the stunning visuals that have captivated the viewers; the storytelling is equally compelling, making Loki one of Marvel‘s most successful Disney+ series from the get-go. It was the first of them to get a second season and as of May 2022, it was the most-watched Marvel series on Disney+ to date. When it premiered in June 2021, Loki had the most successful first day of any Marvel series on Disney+, drawing 890K U.S. households, Samba TV reported at the time. It continued to smash records throughout its entire first season run with a 92% approval rating with an average rating of 7.9/10, based on 332 reviews.

This is just the beginning of Loki Season 2, which is based on Marvel Comics, as it is expected to run for a total of six episodes until November 9, 2023, as part of Phase Five of the MCU on  Disney+. Moreover, the second season picks up in the aftermath of the shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. Along with Mobius M. Mobius, Hunter B-15, and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes, and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose.

If you want to catch up with the second season, then we urge the readers to check out Loki Season 2 on Disney+, as the new episodes will premiere on a weekly basis every Thursday at the same time slot of 9 p.m. ET, as this show is exclusive to this streaming platform on a worldwide scale.
