Terrence O’Hara, a television director best known for his work on NCIS, NCIS: LA, Smallville, and Angel, has sadly passed away at the age of 76. Maddie O’Hara, O’Hara’s daughter, confirmed her father died of cancer on Monday, December 5, 2022. He directed 56 episodes of NCIS, beginning with the fifth episode of the series and ending with Episode 21 of Season 19. He also directed 29 episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles, beginning with the series’ second episode.
His most recent episode was Episode 13 of the previous season. “I never thought I’d be writing those words – it’s surreal. I’ve always imagined him walking me down the aisle, watching his grandkids grow up, and getting old at the lake with my mom. But cancers a bitch, and his life was cut too short,” she shared.
“He’s been quietly battling for the past 5 years, this whole time, directing, working, fighting, and smiling through it. He was famous for his infectious laugh, his noisy ass sneeze, his wild sailor mouth on set, his incredible, thoughtful, creative, and brilliant mind…I could go on.” Terrence O’Hara was best known for his directorial work on NCIS and NCIS: LA, where he found a second home. His dear friend and NCIS executive producer Mark Horowitz said, “One of Terrence’s many strengths as a director came from his curiosity and understanding of human nature. He loved exploring human emotion and the things that make people tick.”
Horowitz continued, “Whether it was a new actor in their first role onscreen or the star of the show, Terrence had such an instinct for helping actors, for quickly figuring out what each one of them needed. His ability to guide and take them to the next level was amazing to watch. He was always searching and pushing to find and reveal the human moments, the things that an audience recognizes as the truth. No matter how stressful the circumstances, everyone working with him knew, Terrence is here, we’ll get through this and it was going to be great. With empathy and openness, Terrence was a great director, an artist, a truly honest man, and a dear, dear friend.”
NCIS Season 20: When will the new episodes premiere?
To say the least, February appears to be jam-packed with more content than usual for the NCIS verse!
The 13th episode, “Evil Eye,” is now scheduled to release on Monday, February 6, 2023, at the same time slot of 9/8c on CBS and later on Paramount Plus. The official synopsis of the episode states, “In preparation for a role, a world-renowned actress shadows the NCIS team as they investigate a decapitation case.”
The runtime of each episode is approximately 39 to 44 minutes. Additionally, the network has also released the title of the 14th episode, “Old Wounds,” which will be released on February 13, 2023. The episode will follow Parker as he grapples with his emotions when a con man from his past turns up as a prime suspect in the murder of a navy officer. NCIS Season 20: A quick recap of the story so far
Here’s what we know about NCIS Season 20 episodes thus far if you haven’t been able to catch up with the season. Stop reading if you want to avoid some major spoilers!
Episode 1: A Family Matter – September 19, 2022: This episode kicks off a crossover event that will culminate with the Season 2 debut of NCIS: Hawai’i. With Parker and his ex-wife on the run, the NCIS team looks into those who may have a personal grudge against Parker in the hopes of clearing his record. The episode concludes with Torres and Knight traveling to Hawaii with NCIS agent Jane Tennant and computer specialist Ernie Malik to stop the Raven, or Herman Maxwell, who has been liberated by his followers, members of an organization known as the Unkindness.
Episode 2: Daddy Issues – September 26, 2022: McGee is taken aback when it is discovered that a fellow father from his children’s school was involved in a break-in at a secret government vault. The situation makes McGee realize that some other parents at his children’s school regard him as aloof and antisocial.
Episode 3: Unearth – October 3, 2022: A murder investigation introduces NCIS to a longstanding curse that ultimately puts Torres and Dr. Grace Confalone in a tight spot.
Episode 4: Leave No Trace – October 10, 2022: NCIS joins forces with the National Parks Investigative Service when a dead petty officer is found in the woods. The agent they work with, Gage Winchester, happens to be Knight’s ex-boyfriend who hopes to get back with her. However, this only pushes Knight closer to Jimmy as she agrees to go on a spa weekend with him, signaling a more concrete definition of their relationship.
Episode 5: Guardian – October 17, 2022: Vance is accosted by burglars in his home but subdues them, killing one of them. Parker takes it upon himself to be Vance’s protection detail at an upcoming conference in Berlin, while McGee assumes the role of acting director and Torres & Knight investigate. While in Berlin, an Interpol official with whom Vance is romantically involved is also attacked, leading the team to investigate a theft of diamonds.
Episode 6: The Good Fighter – October 24, 2022: While Kasie undergoes self-defense fight training, the body of an NCIS agent is discovered. The agent was moonlighting as a hacker to use paid funds from large corporations for charitable donations, and agents recruit Kasie for an undercover investigation which reveals that NCIS has a mole.
Episode 7: Love Lost – November 14, 2022: The estranged husband of the Secretary of the Navy, Tara Flynn, alleges she is trying to kill him, leaving the team with the uncomfortable task of investigating their boss’s boss.
Episode 8: Turkey Trot – November 21, 2022: At a Thanksgiving event, an explosion nearly kills an admiral, but the perpetrator, Charles Samuels, was aiming at Knight instead. Charles is the brother of a veteran who committed suicide despite Knight trying to talk him down during her time as a REACT agent. Having held a grudge all this time, Charles entered a romantic relationship with Knight’s sister Robin and ultimately takes the two of them along with Kasie hostage. Also, Knight and Robin are forced to confront their mutual animosity.
Episode 9: Higher Education – December 5, 2022: NCIS investigates the death of a college student who was killed while running across the street and had connections to McGee’s wife.
Episode 10: Too Many Cooks – January 9, 2023: NCIS agents from Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and Hawaii, in D.C. to attend the retirement party of a beloved Federal Law Enforcement Training Center professor, find themselves investigating his shocking suicide.
Episode 11: Bridges – January 16, 2023: Parker discovers he’s a victim of identity theft while investigating the unusual murder of a Navy ensign; Knight and Jimmy face hurdles in their relationship as their connection height
Episode 12: Big Rig – January 23, 2023: When an old pal of Torres’ comes to him – disheveled and bloodied – for guidance amidst an undercover FBI operation and then disappears, NCIS helps track him down; McGee prepares to be a contestant on a popular game show.
