NCT’s Jisung tests positive for COVID-19; Goes under self-quarantine

Although experts have discovered vaccination doses and other precautionary measures to curb COVID-19, the pandemic is still prevalent around the world. With many people getting infected by the virus, many celebrities around the world have also fallen prey to the same. The latest among them to be diagnosed is NCT’s Jisung.

For the unversed, NCT’s Jisung is the first member of the group to be diagnosed with COVID-19. It was on the morning of April 30, 2022, that the K-pop group’s agency SM Entertainment released a statement talking about Jisung’s current health status. He is the youngest member of the group and is known to be a significant part of the NCT and NCT dreams. If media reports are to be believed, he tested positive for Coronavirus on April 29, 2022. As for the other members, all of them tested negative after having undergone rapid antigen tests.

The statement

According to SM Entertainment’s latest statement, Jisung is suffering from a mild sore throat which is a symptom of coronavirus. As mentioned earlier, Jisung became the first member of the 23-piece group to be confirmed positive for the virus. According to reports, he is under self-quarantine as of now according to the government guidelines. He has reportedly also completed taking three doses of the vaccine.

“Hello, this is SM Entertainment.

NCT’s Jisung was diagnosed with COVID-19 on the afternoon of April 29.

Jisung has completed the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and has no symptoms other than a mild sore throat. He has currently halted all scheduled activities and is undergoing treatment in self-isolation at home according to the guidelines of government health authorities.

All [other] NCT DREAM members tested negative in the preemptive rapid antigen test.

We will continue to strictly abide by the quarantine guidelines, and will do our best to help him focus on recovery, considering the health and safety of our artists as our top priority. Thank you.”

The South Korean boy band is associated with SM Entertainment and was formed way back in January 2016. Unlike other Korean groups, NCT consists of 23 members. The group’s first unit debut was with rotational NCT U on April 9, 2016. They have recorded three full group albums to date that include Empathy, Resonance, and Universe. Jisung, who is currently undergoing treatment for coronavirus is the youngest member of the group.
