The game is on — the Only Murders in the Building plans to return for season 3 with even more twists and turns in store. The curtains might have fallen on season 2 for this enigmatic comedy, but it’s just the start of another killer follow-up for true crime obsessives Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez).
After the death of Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell) is answered, the doubtful triad can’t catch a break as a new character is strangely boggled and it shoots the whole disquisition in a new direction. Only Murders in the Building not only won three Emmys but also got four Golden Globe nominations this year. Fans are already on the edge with curiosity about what happens next. Below are all the clues we’ve found out about Only Murder in the Building season 3, including the release date, cast, episode info, and furthermore.

Coming down to the release date of season 3, seeing how the record goes of season 1 being premiered in August 2021 and season 2 debuted in June 2022. If our theories are correct, the gripping comedy will return with season 3 eventually in the summer of 2023.
Only Murders in the Building Cast:
The shows have been quite a revolving door for a slate of celebrity guest stars, including the likes of Sting, Tina Fey, Amy Schumer, Shirley MacLaine, Cara Delevingne, and more. The usual cast will definitely be there:
- Selena Gomez as Mabel Mora
- Steve Martin as Charles-Haden Savage
- Martin Short as Oliver Putnam
- Da’Vine Joy Randolph as Detective Williams
Paul Rudd made a gem in the season 2 homestretch as the star of Oliver’s play, Ben Glenroy. Though he was soon called off stage suddenly (a nasty onstage death by poison). Selena Gomez on her Instagram dropped the biggest plot twist of all. The Only Murders in the Building crew sat together on the settee as Selena Gomez herself blazoned they were on the set and filming season 3. She asked “The gang is back … Could this actually get any better? After criticizing Paul who replied, ” I do suppose it could get better.” With that Meryl Streep pops up from behind the set asking her new co-stars if they need anything.
Only Murders in the Building Season 3 Plot:
Get your operative chapeau and red drive legs ready. The forthcoming season plans to shift the focus towards Oliver, which was formerly suggested in season 2 with a one-year jump forward to Oliver’s Broadway managerial debut, as revealed by generators. As of August 23, 2022, the pens of the show have devoted six weeks to writing for season 3, with pledges of a “so instigative” and “insane” season ahead. John explained to The Hollywood Reporter: “If season 1 was a little more focused on the emotional storyline for Mabel and Tim Kono, and season 2 was a little more emotionally connected to Charles and his relationship with his father and himself, I’m very excited to both lean into the theatrical side of New York City and also into Oliver and his world.”
Only Murders in the Building Episodes:
We are still trailing leads, but seasons 1 and 2 each pack in 10 suspension-filled occurrences. It would only make sense for Only Murders in the Building season 3 to follow the same pattern.
