Read on to find out the latest updates on Outer Banks Season 3.
A recipient of the best drama and best male TV star awards at the People’s Choice Awards, Outer Banks has become one of the most critically-acclaimed teen drama series ever since its debut in April 2020. After returning for the highly anticipated second season in July 2020, Pogues are demanding a season 3 as soon as possible since its progenitor left at a very dramatic end.
With that said, here’s a quick rundown of Outer Banks season 3 inclusive of all the necessary details that you need to know about the show.
When was Outer Banks officially renewed for a third season?
On December 7, 2021, an official renewal was announced that broke through the misleading fog of rumours and cleared the minds of the fans and piqued their interest. The official Netflix Twitter account announcing the renewal of Outer Banks said:
“This just in from Poguelandia…
Outer Banks will be back for a third season!”
What can we expect to happen in Outer Banks Season 3?
The season 2 finale left off on a very deserted note. While the war between the Camerons and Pogues is expected to continue in the third season as well, Pope’s warning, “It’s not over”, heightens the thrills of the fans that can only achieve its fruition in the third season. After being sundered on the island, season 2 left the viewers with the revelation that John B’s dad is alive. This raises a plethora of questions as to how and why Big John is back and what does he intend to do?
In conversation with Entertainment Weekly, this is what John Pate has to say concerning Big John:
“John B’s relationship with his dad is a huge theme and having his dad back around and eventually they’re going to meet back up and John B has to reconcile his idealized version of his dead dad with the reality of his alive dad. It gives us a lot of thematic father-son stuff to work with.”
On a more romantic front, actor Madelyn Cline hinted to ET about season 3 delving more into their marriage. Cline said:
“It’d be really fun in season 3, if we get one, to see them actually start to truly get to know each other in a very real sense. They’re married, but they actually kind of don’t know a whole lot about each other. I feel like that would be really fun. They’ve obviously been through a lot together.”
In addition, Chase Stokes, in conversation with Elite Daily, teased about a “vibe shift” in season 3. Stokes said, “The writers really like to keep us on our toes, and I think that creates performances that catch you in the moment … I’ve no idea what’s going on past what we’ve shot in Barbados.”
He further added, “I think a lot of loose ends are going to get tied up. A lot of questions will be answered. And per usual, these kids are going to get put through the wringer.”
