In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Maril Davis, executive producer, hinted about what the viewers can expect to see in Season 7, she stated, “This is our biggest season yet. We have so many storylines. So many different places. The trajectory — we cover so much terrain. I really feel sorry for our production designer, art department, costume designer and her team. It’s such a huge season. We almost can’t wrap our arms around it. It’s not only the extra four episodes, it’s just, the Revolution is here. It’s going to be really exciting.”

Outlander Season 7 Potential Release Date
Maril Davis also recently shared some new updates about the production status of the next season of Outlander in an exclusive interview with DigitalSpy, when asked when the next season will premiere, she replied, “I actually don’t know!” She also added, “I haven’t been told when we will be airing season seven, all I know is we are in the beginning of shooting it now, and that’s all I can say. I think we are on a fairly typical schedule but it is a supersized season.”

Hence, there is no official premiere date available for the series as of May 10, 2022. However, several speculations from fans and the pattern of the previous season’s release dates indicate that it will premiere sometime in early to mid-2023.
Moreover, there is a forthcoming prequel series in development where Jamie’s parents will be the subject of the next chapter. Maril Davis didn’t have much to say about the subject, although she did add they’re working on it adding that she hasn’t heard anything about an Outlander Season 8 yet.

Outlander Season 7 Expected Plot
According to reports, Outlander Season 7 would be based on Diana Gabaldon’s novel series Echo in the Bone. Viewers can read the book’s description, which is mentioned below, to get a sense of the plot. This will surely give you an idea of what to expect from the series’ next chapter and the concept.

Diana Gabaldon’s website offers the following description of the book which states, “Set in America, London, Canada, and Scotland. The book’s cover image reflects the internal shape of the novel: a caltrop. That’s an ancient military weapon that looks like a child’s jack with sharp points; the Romans used them to deter elephants, and the Highway Patrol still uses them to stop fleeing perps in cars. This book has four significant storylines: Jamie and Claire; Roger and Brianna (and family); Lord John and William; and Young Ian, all intersecting in the nexus of the American Revolution and all of them with sharp points. (1777-1778/1972)”
Be comforted by this, #Outlander fans: the cast and crew are hard at work on what’s bound to be an incredible Season 7. https://t.co/3BedPvWJX7

Moreover, if Outlander Season 7 follows the plotline of the seventh novel, here are the Echo in the Bone storylines to look forward to and specially highlighted, according to dianagabaldon.com:
“Jamie and Claire Fraser, are now in the midst of the American Revolution; Their daughter Brianna, her husband Roger MacKenzie, and their two children settled at Lallybroch in the 1970′s (finding their feet after their return from the past—but are unaware that that past is just about to leap out at them again)”
“Lord John Grey and his stepson William (Jamie’s unacknowledged illegitimate son), are embroiled in the Revolution on the British side with William in the army and Lord John on the clandestine side of intelligence; and Jamie’s nephew Young Ian: his troubled love-life is about to take another sharp left turn.”

Outlander Season 7 Cast
As per reports, the fans can also expect to see familiar faces just like in the previous seasons in order to be consistent with the plot which are stated as follows:
- Sam Heughan as James “Jamie” Fraser
- Caitriona Balfe as Claire Fraser
- Richard Rankin as Roger MacKenzie
