When is the eighth season anticipated to release? Here is everything we know about Outlander Season 8.

If you have been keeping up with this historical drama series, then we know that the much-awaited Outlander Season 8 is officially on the way! Back in 2022, development began on a prequel series titled Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which will focus on Jamie Fraser’s parents.

The series was officially picked up by Starz in January 2023 with a 10-episode first season, while the parent series was announced to have been renewed for an eighth and final season. Since then, it is obvious that there is still a long way to go before they premiere on Starz, as the production hasn’t even begun yet.

Outlander Season 8 Premiere Date: When will the final season premiere on Starz?

It is assumed that it is in the early stages of writing because, if you’ve been keeping up with the series’ most recent updates on its official social media accounts, then you know that the seventh season just finished its production. Hence, there is no chance that the eighth season will air this year.

There have been no significant updates revealed thus far, which is understandable given it has yet to debut its seventh season, which consists of 16 episodes and is based on “An Echo in the Bone.” Moreover, the network confirmed that the new episodes are set to premiere in the summer of 2023, maybe around May or July, in the same time slot of 9 p.m. ET, which will be published in the coming months.

We would like to emphasize that at this time, this is just a rumor, and the network will clarify it in the upcoming months.

Given all these aspects of the show’s current state, the filming of Outlander Season 8 appears to be far off. According to what we’ve been speculating, the cast and crew will definitely take a break after the hectic schedule for filming the seventh season for the whole year, which will lead to the production of the final season commencing sometime later this year or maybe once the new season starts airing the episodes.

The release date for Season 8 has not been announced or hinted at by the creators, but it would be astonishing if it arrived before the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025. That would enable the show to continue airing for a while longer. Furthermore, it might be extended even further if the debut of Outlander: Blood of My Blood occurs before the release of season 8. Of course, at this point, everything is speculative!

So, we ask the fans to be patient and keep a closer eye on the social media handles for all the latest details.

The cast members who are expected to reprise their roles include Caitríona Balfe as Claire Randall Fraser, Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser, Richard Rankin as Roger Wakefield, Sophie Skelton as Brianna Randall, John Bell as Young Ian Murray, David Berry as Lord John Grey, Caitlin O’Ryan as Lizzie Wemyss Beardsley.

Along with Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom, Maria Doyle Kennedy as Jocasta Cameron Innes, Mark Lewis Jones as Thomas Christie, Alexander Vlahos as Allan Christie, Paul Gorman as Josiah and Keziah Beardsley, and Andrew Adair and Matthew Adair as Jemmy MacKenzie.

In the meantime, check out the teaser trailer for Outlander Season 7, which follows the seventh book in the Outlander series of novels by Diana Gabaldon. The book follows the adventures of Claire and Jamie Fraser as they continue in America during the Revolution.

They are joined by their nephew Ian Murray, longtime friend Lord John Grey, and Jamie’s illegitimate son, William Ransom. The plot also follows Jamie and Claire’s daughter Brianna and her husband Roger MacKenzie, who have finally managed to return to the 20th century with their two young children, Jeremiah and Mandy.
