The exact release date of the seventh season has not been disclosed yet! Rick and Morty Season 7 Plot: What to expect?

The official synopsis of the series states, “After having been missing for nearly 20 years, Rick Sanchez suddenly arrives at daughter Beth’s doorstep to move in with her and her family. Although Beth welcomes Rick into her home, her husband, Jerry, isn’t as happy about the family reunion. Jerry is concerned about Rick, a sociopathic scientist, using the garage as his personal laboratory. In the lab, Rick works on a number of sci-fi gadgets, some of which could be considered dangerous. But that’s not all Rick does that concerns Jerry. He also goes on adventures across the universe that often involve his grandchildren, Morty and Summer.”

*Spoiler Alert*

The new season is expected to continue from the final episode of the sixth season, “Ricktional Mortpoon’s Rickmas Mortcation,” which was directed by Kyounghee Lim and written by Scott Marder. In the finale, we got to see that for Christmas, Rick gives Morty a working Star Wars lightsaber, which he accidentally drops perfectly vertically.

This causes it to tunnel into the Earth, threatening to destroy the planet if it reaches its core. Morty learns that Rick replaced himself with a robot after Morty had called him “boring” in “A Rick in King Mortur’s Mort,” while the real Rick is busy with his search for Rick Prime. During their quest, Morty is aided by the President, who then steals the lightsaber.

The President accidentally drops the lightsaber in the same manner, forcing Morty and Rickbot to retrieve it. In the ensuing confrontation with the President at the White House (which the President launched into outer space to escape the possible destruction), Rickbot is mortally injured, and the three are sucked into space, but Rick rescues them with a portal.

Rickbot succumbs to his injuries and tells him he was only doing what Rick would have done in his place. As the President takes his leave, Morty joins Rick in his underground lab, offering to help him locate Rick Prime, prompting Rick to monologue about their impending arduous efforts to track Rick Prime during the upcoming season 7.

Moreover, the post-credit scene showcased Mr. Poopybutthole, having turned to bodybuilding to get over his ex-wife Amy, breaking his leg and attempting a heavy squat. He asks his trainer Karl to telephone Amy. When Karl reaches for Mr. Poopybutthole’s cell phone, he tells Karl to use his cell phone to call Amy as she blocked his number.

So, it is clear that the ending of the sixth season finale will build up the plot and character arcs of the beloved cast for the next season, which will be quite amazing to see in a few weeks!

Rick and Morty Season 7 Cast: Who will reprise their roles?

There have been some changes in the cast as back in January 2023, it was reported that Adult Swim had ended its association with co-creator Justin Roiland and was fired from the series amid charges of domestic abuse (The charges against Roiland have since been dismissed). As a result, it was later announced that Roiland’s roles would be recast as well as co-creator Dan Harmon would be the sole showrunner for the series. So, the main cast members of the series who will be a part of the seventh season are as follows:

Rick Sanchez (TBA): A genius scientist and alcoholic whose inventions and experiments serve as the basis for the episodes; Morty Smith (TBA): Rick’s impressionable grandson who is often dragged along on his grandfather’s escapades; Jerry Smith (Chris Parnell): Morty’s insecure father, whose disapproval of Rick’s influence on Morty only deepens his marital troubles with Beth; Summer Smith (Spencer Grammer): Morty’s angst-ridden older sister who occasionally joins Rick on his adventures, and Beth Smith (Sarah Chalke): Morty’s holier-than-thou mother, a cardiac surgeon for horses.

Lastly, as recently as June 14, 2023, Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen and executive producer Steve Levy revealed that recasting Roiland’s roles is still in progress. Moreover, there are some single appearances in the new season, as it has been confirmed that there are some characters present in one episode within the seventh season.

Rick and Morty Season 7 Episodes: Where to stream?

The upcoming season is expected to have 10 episodes, just like the prior six seasons, with an average runtime of approximately 22 minutes per episode. We’d also like to point out that the exact episode titles and synopsis for the upcoming season cannot be confirmed and are yet to be revealed by the network, which may take some time. So, before streaming the new season, we advise viewers to wait patiently and binge-watch all the prior seasons.

Additionally, viewers should watch out for information on the episode summary that will be made public in the coming months. As stated above, the network has ordered 70 new episodes for ten seasons, so it is possible that they can change the episode count of the season, which may or may not be in development as the number of episodes is ultimately determined by the plot that the show seeks to transmit to the viewers.

When Rick And Morty Season 7 draws closer to its release date, the series will be available exclusively on Netflix, MAX (previously known as HBO Max), or Hulu Plus, with all previous seasons also accessible on the streaming platform with a range of membership options. The series is also available to stream by renting or purchasing it on Amazon Instant Video, Vudu, iTunes, and Google Play. For many streaming platforms, the video quality and quantity of screens you can use to stream simultaneously depend on the package you choose.

Rick and Morty Season 7 Official Trailer: Is it available?

The network hasn’t released any official promos for the next season, as the marketing is supposed to begin a month before the new episodes officially start premiering on the network.

So, there is a lot of time left for such promotions to begin, as it has also been confirmed that Adult Swim will announce their plans for the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con weekend later this month by releasing a brand new sneak peek at the upcoming Rick and Morty Season 7 while celebrating the animated series’ 10th Anniversary.

To say the least, the coming days will be exciting to see what they have in store; until then, we urge the readers to check out the official trailer for Rick and Morty Season 6 to recall all the events which showcased that mad scientist Rick Sanchez moves in with his daughter’s family after disappearing for 20 years and involves them in his wacky adventures in this animated comedy.
