Selling Sunset is all set to come back with its flashing real estate and palpable office drama, almost a year after season 5 premiered. In April 2023, Netflix revealed the release date of this docusoap along with releasing a brand new teaser of the same.
For or for worse, some major changes lie in the wake of season 5. The brand-new instalment will certainly feature some new faces, by replacing some of the old ones. This time around, some big names including Christine Quinn, won’t be returning.
While occupying a recent guest spot on Savannah Chrisley’s podcast Unlocked, Quinn unboxed her views regarding her time on the show, especially broaching the topic of how she was often portrayed as the villain in the series. She said, “I was on my own island. It was very unfair. It was disgusting, it was vile.”
Although Quinn won’t be returning for the sixth season of Selling Sunset, the new season still promises a lot of drama, both in real estate and the cast’s personal relationships.
For those unversed, Selling Sunset underscores real-estate agents who belong to Oppenheim Group, which is run by brothers Jason and Brett Oppenheim. The siblings hire beautiful and ambitious women as high-end real estate agents whose main job is to sell luxury properties in Los Angeles. The core faces include former soap opera star Chrishell Stause, bubbly blonde Heather El Moussa, and the series villain Christine Quinn, who as mentioned above, won’t be returning this season.
Who are the cast members of Selling Sunset season 6?
Selling Sunset season 6 will reportedly feature agents Chrishell Stause, Heather El Moussa, Davina Potratz, Mary Fitzgerald, Chelsea Lazkani, Emma Hernan and Amanza Smith, along with their bosses, Jason Oppenheim and Brett Oppenheim.
Meanwhile, Christine Quinn and Maya Vander confirmed that they would not be reprising their roles as real estate agents in the series. In May 2022, Quinn, who was projected as the series villain, told PEOPLE, that has left the Oppenheim Group, following the April 2022 launch of her and her husband Christian Dumontet’s crypto real estate venture, RealOpen.
Similarly, in the wake of launching her own real estate group in Miami under rival agency Compass, Vander confirmed that she won’t be returning to the sixth season of Selling Sunset.
In addition to the above-mentioned cast, PEOPLE also confirmed that Vanessa Villela, who was featured in seasons 4 and 5, won’t be returning in the sixth season. As per the outlet, “the star had not yet signed on with Netflix for the upcoming sixth and seventh seasons.”
The star is reportedly under the stress of coming back to the show. Although she would like to come back and showcase her wedding, she is hesitant owing to the arrival of the new realtors.
Although old faces are leaving, new names are also rising to the surface when it comes to the Selling Sunset season 6 cast. These include Bre Tiesi and Nicole Young.
A longtime member of the Oppenheim group and also a very close friend of Jason Oppenheim and Mary Fitzgerald, Young, as Netflix mentions, “has been the longest standing and top producing realtor at the brokerage with $100M in sales.” Interestingly, she was originally meant to be a part of Selling Sunset season 1.
In a conversation with PEOPLE in August 2022, Young said, “Originally, I was a part of the main cast. Honestly, at the time, I just got cold feet right before they were going to start filming. I just wasn’t ready to expose my entire life, and even more so, my clients and business — which I’m very protective of — to the entire world.”
Teisi, on the other hand, is not afraid to ace the real estate arena despite being a novice, owing to her experience in the entertainment industry. Having grown up in the modelling and acting industry in Los Angeles, Teisi shared her excitement for this new opportunity while in conversation with PEOPLE.
“I wanted to transition out of modelling and start setting myself up for a long-term career,” she said. “I started taking it more seriously and tapping into my network, and that’s when I started making some high-figure sales. As amazing as modelling was as an industry for me, I was just kind of over it. You know, I’m 31 now. So I’m like, It’s time to be a big girl!”
What can we expect to happen in Selling Sunset season 6?
You mean apart from the jaw-dropping real estate skirmish and the romantic drama?
Yes!
In April 2022, along with announcing the release date of Selling Sunset season 6, Netflix also shared a teaser of the same which spiked the viewers’ excitement and left them hungry for more.
The teaser kicks off with Chrishell Stause’s statement, “I know people think I’m having a midlife crisis, but I’m having an awakening,” that reminds the viewers of her relationship with partner G Flip. Overcoming the backlash at the beginning of their love story, the pair seems to be going strong. In fact, the Australian musician has teased that they will make an appearance on season 6 beside their girlfriend.
In the teaser, the returning agents including Chelsea Lazkani, Emma Hernan and Amanza Smith echo their driven and ambitious sentiments of prioritizing their career over anything else, with Lazkani affirming that she’s been “killing it in this market” and Hernan emphasizing on “building an empire.”
Underscoring on two new agents of Oppenheim Group, Nicole Young and Bre Tiesi, Young is seen saying in the teaser, “I have $100 million in sales and counting. If someone were to get in the way of that, there’s going to be an issue.”
With Teisi being the proud new mom to baby Legendary with Nick Cannon, she emphasizes being a “kind of mirror” and matching whatever energy that she’s been given.
The teaser also highlights Fitzgerlad (whose husband Romain Bonnet will reportedly return this season) and her latent animosity towards the show’s former “villain” Christine Quinn. Fitzgerald does not abstain to say that “it’s probably for the best she’s gone” about her former friend.
Meanwhile, the viewers also catch a glimpse of driven El Moussa, who was pregnant with her first baby while filming season 6, when she says that she’s going to be a “rockstar mommy and also a rockstar businesswoman.”
Foregrounding on the dynamic between Stause and Jason, who have dated each other for less than a year in 2021, the fans anticipate some romantic spice sautéed to the agents’ drama.
