Finding a killer after a murder feels like a natural go-to plot. How about dedicating episodes together on just the murder weapon and the evidence around the same? Also known as criminal profiling, it is often done to anticipate the motive and know the nature of murder as well as understand why a particular victim was chosen. A show that saw this concept was Afterparty.
We all tend to think Afterparty is cool, but what if someone is found dead there? Would it still be all the glamorous things, or would the truth prevail? With the audiences getting mind-boggled with the show, let us see if there are hopes of renewal for a season 3.
The Afterparty Season 3: Is there any hope for renewal?
Yes. While there has been no confirmation of a renewal, this comedy thriller has an IMDb rating of 7.3/10 and a 90% Rotten Tomatoes score. With such a high response rate and a relatively commercial success, the show can be renewed soon.
The Afterparty Season 3 Expected Release Date
If the show is renewed now, amidst the strikes, it would be difficult to proceed as expected, so the show would be renewed next year, and we can have the show as early as the fall of 2024, but not anytime before that.
The Afterparty Season 3 Expected Cast:
The same characters would be returning for another season, they are;
- Zoe Chao as Zoe
- Sam Richardson as Aniq
- Tiffany Haddish as Detective
- Ike Barinholtz as Brett
- Dave Franco as Xavier
- Ben Schwartz as Yasper
- Poppy Liu as Grace
The Afterparty Season 3 Expected Plot:
The official synopsis of the show reads, “After a murder is discovered at a high school reunion, the attendees try to remember what happened, despite all of them remembering the fateful night differently and the murderer remaining at large.”
The show will still be a murder mystery, with the people speculating in the craziest ways on who could be a murderer, and more potential suspects could be chosen after deliberating the evidence elaborately.
What are the makers saying about The Afterparty?
In an official comment, Chris Miller commented on the possibility of the murderer and subtly hinted that to continue on those lines, a new season might emerge, he says and we quote;
“It started with thinking that it should be poison, and then thinking that the glass of the poison goes on a journey and doesn’t reach its intended target,” says Afterparty creator Chris Miller. “That would help us create a character who doesn’t have an obvious motive to kill the victim, but then we would need that character to have another secret or murder that’s intended. And what could that be?”
The absentee uncle Ulysses is the murderer who is responsible for Edgar’s death, but what if there is more to that? Why did it happen? Is it a facade, and someone else is the killer? The makers suggested how they first chose the killer and then built around the plot, so there are chances of having another murder in that party or a new killer to irk the audiences further.
