With The Blacklist season 9 streaming on Netflix in several regions of the world, it has become one of the longest-running NBC series. For the unversed, The Blacklist is a crime thriller by James Safer that debuted in 2013. It follows the life of Raymond “Red” Reddington, a former U.S. Navy officer who has transformed into a high-profile criminal. Interestingly, he voluntarily surrenders himself to the FBI and unveils the list of the most perilous criminals in the world and their current operations. However, the catch is, that he’ll do all of this in exchange for immunity from prosecution.

If you’re watching the last season right now, which started airing on its official network on February 26th, 2023, like many people, surging anticipation for the arrival of the 10th season on Netflix must be killing you. NBC is all set to premiere the tenth season of The Blacklist, ever since its early renewal in February 2022.

According to What’s on Netflix, the filming of the forthcoming season was underway in September 2022. In addition, a word for our mentioning is that they have cast Anya Banerjee as Siya Malik. Like its predecessors, this one, too, will be a 22-episode long season.

Even though the show has crossed the distinctive 200-episode mark in the 10th season, there is no word as to the renewal of the crime thriller for the 11th season.

Deadline reports that the series is pushed back to “midseason”, implying that it has deviated from its regular fall release schedule that would normally fall between September and November each year. Be that as it may, no official announcements have been made regarding the start date as of yet.

Here’s everything you need to know regarding the arrival of The Blacklist season 10 on the respective channels and streaming platforms.

Since The Blacklist season 10 filming has been pushed back, many would assume that its Netflix release date would also be postponed. Fortunately, that is not the case. Like season 10, season 6 had also started in the mid-season, but it arrived on Netflix during the period like all the other seasons. So, a similar scenario is also expected during the release of The Blacklist season 10.

If you fail to recall the Netflix release dates of the previous seasons, here’s the list of The Blacklist seasons released on Netflix and their respective release dates:

  • Season 4 – 09/07/2017

Will there be The Blacklist Season 11?

A lot of things have been happening to this American crime thriller series that has got us worried about the fate of the show. For instance, the eighth season of the show suffered from a plummet in live ratings. If that was not enough, Megan Boone and Jon Bokenkamo left the series while NBC had already renewed the show. By the time the show was renewed for a 10th season, a lot of characters had already left.

Resultantly, NBC has decided to finally bid their adieus to the series in February 2023. The showrunner and executive producer John Eisendrath said in a statement, “After 10 years, hundreds of Blacklist cases and more than 200 episodes produced, we’re honored to reach our conclusion. It’s been incredibly fun to create the strange, devious, and delightful Blacklisters to challenge Raymond Reddington and our FBI Task Force each week. We would like to thank everyone at NBC and Sony, our extraordinary crew who make the impossible happen every day, our endlessly inventive writers and producers, and our remarkable cast who brought life to these characters. We appreciate our dedicated fanbase who came along for this wonderful ride and are excited to share this final season with them.”

NBC Universal and Television and Streaming’s president of scripted content, Lisa Katz stated, “It isn’t often that a series resonates so deeply with an audience that it airs for 10 seasons, but The Blacklist proved to be a perfect combination of highly talented producers, stellar writing, a cast that never failed to deliver, and a crew that always rose to the occasion. A huge thank you to our partners at Sony, everyone from the past decade who made this show an integral part of NBC’s storied history and, of course, a special nod to James Spader, whose performance remains nothing short of spectacular.”

Why does The Blacklist Season 10 seal the fate of the show?

Speaking to NBC, Spader disclosed the reason why he contended the show should end with season 10. He said, “I think if the show went beyond this year, it would turn into a very different show. And I think that the thing that has been nice about this show was that we’ve never really had a really clear paradigm for the show. Tonally the show shifts a lot from episode to episode, and I think that even the show has taken strange turns, and I suspect that the show if it went much further, would just become something that would be less recognizable to me.”
