But if we have to predict the potential release date of The Crown Season 6, it might happen sometime after the worldwide premiere of all the episodes from the fifth season. It is expected to air at the same time slot of 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET on the streaming platform. On the other hand, filming for the sixth season began in August 2022. but Morgan noted he expected it to stop for a period of time in September following the death of Elizabeth II “out of respect.”

In October 2022, it was reported that the events just before and right after the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, in Paris would be filmed for season six. Hence, if we guess, the release window for the upcoming season has been suggested to be around mid-to-late 2023. As stated above, a statement about the show’s official release date and time slot is still pending verification by Netflix. The Crown Season 6 will reportedly take place in the late 1990s and early 2000s, beginning with Princess Diana’s death in 1997 and ending in 2001, when Prince William and Kate Middleton began dating at St. Andrews. Filming for The Crown’s sixth season started in August. A table read was held last week. “It will be as tumultuous as it gets, I think,” West told Deadline. Despite occasional controversies surrounding Prince Charles, the actor would not hear a bad word about the heir to the British throne: “I love the man. He’s a force for good, he really is an extraordinary man.”

According to Deadline, there was an atmosphere of “anxiety behind the scenes” ahead of filming that moment, even though Diana’s actual demise won’t be shown on screen. “We’ve been dreading getting to this point,” a source told Deadline. “The countdown is two weeks and while we’re calmly carrying on it’s fair to acknowledge that there’s a certain anxiety; a palpable sense of being slightly on the edge. I mean, there’s bombshell sensitivity surrounding this one.”

The Crown Season 6 Cast: Who is returning for the next season?

The main cast from the fifth season will reprise their roles which are Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, and Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Also joining the series are Dominic West and Elizabeth Debicki, who play Prince Charles and Princess Diana.  Jonathan Pryce takes over as Prince Philip, and you can spot Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Claudia Harrison as Princess Anne, and Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles.

Jonny Lee Miller stars as Prime Minister John Major. Teenager Rufus Kampa assumes the role of Prince William aged 15, while Ed McVey will portray the prince’s later teen and early adult years. Kate will be played by new talent Meg Bellamy, whose career to date has involved amateur dramatics and film-making. On the other hand, Harry is yet to be cast for season six.

The forthcoming is expected to have the same range of about 10 episodes with a runtime of 47 to 61 minutes which are expected to be released on the same day, just like the prior seasons.
