The adventures of a single dad and his weird Alaskan family are back as the famous American animated sitcom television series, The Great North, will be back for its fourth season. Created for the Fox Broadcasting Company by Minty Lewis, Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux, the series underscores the life of Beef Tobin in Lone Moose, Alaska, who is a single father parenting four kids, Wolf, Ham, Judy, and Moon.

Carrying an overbearing personality that sometimes teeters on the smothering edge, the series emphasizes Beef’s love and affection towards his family. Featuring some of the talented voice artists for the characters, Nick Offerman voices Beef Tobin, Will Forte voices Wolf Tobin (Beef’s oldest son), Paul Rust voices Ham Pierce Brosnan Tobin (Beef’s middle son), Jenny Slate as Judy Tobin (Beef’s daughter), Dulce Sloan voices Honeybee Shaw (Wolf’s wife) and Aparna Nancherla voices Moon Tobin (Beef’s youngest son).

Premiered for the first time on Fox on January 3rd, 2021, the series was critically acclaimed by the audience and critics alike, receiving the phenomenal 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 77 out of 100 on Metacritic. Having aired the third season finale episode on May 21, 2023, the FOX animated sitcom is tantamount to other animated programming such as Bob’s Burgers and Housebroken.

Serving as the producers of the show, Lewis, Molyneuz, Janelle Momary-Neely and Loren Bouchard, Caroline Levich, Ted Travelstead, Gabe Delahaye and Kevin Seccia, The Great North is all set to return for season 4. Here’s what we know so far about the brand-new season.

The good news is waiting for all the fans of the series and all those who have been waiting to virtually travel the animated Alaskan tundra. Per Variety’s report on May 15th, 2023, The Great North was renewed for a fourth season officially by FOX. Additionally, the Molyneux sisters have reportedly upgraded their deal with FOX.

The renewal announcement comes in the wake of signing a new overall deal to extend the relationship of the co-creators of the show with 20th Television Animation. Under this deal, the duo the Molyneux sisters will continue to serve as executive showrunners on Fox’s The Great North, and as writers and executive producers on the network’s Bob’s Burgers.

Marci Proietto, EVP, of 20th Television Animation said, “Our relationship with Wendy and Lizzie has spanned over a decade of hilarious collaboration, from the very early days of ‘Bob’s Burgers through the creation and launch of ‘The Great North. Their ability to write uniquely strong characters while juggling work on multiple shows and development projects is unmatched, I couldn’t be happier to keep these incredibly funny, multi-talented women in the family.” (via Deadline)

Additionally, Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin said, “We are genuinely thrilled to continue working with the team at 20th Television Animation. They let us be our strange selves in a way we could only have dreamed of and we couldn’t be more grateful for their input and support. Also, we love the mugs they send us and we keep losing them so we really hope this relationship continues for years.”

What is the overall performance of The Great North season 3?

Per the TV Series Finale, The Great North season 3 has accumulated over 0.35 ratings in the 18-49 demographic and amassed over 1.12 million viewers in the live+same day ratings. This marks a 12% plummet in comparison to season two in the demo and observes another 5% plummet in viewership.

Although these numbers don’t indicate further delayed or streaming viewing, they provide a fair glimpse into the show’s performance which helps us in reckoning the fate of the show. Be that as it may, several economic factors are also in the play determining the same. But the major logline remains that the higher-rated series is, more often than not, renewed quicker and easier than the lower-rated ones.
