Will the intense courtroom drama return to the small screen? Continue reading to learn more about The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3.
There is no doubt that this legal drama series has already established itself as a must-watch for fans of crime fiction and legal thrillers, making it one of the most anticipated releases of this year. As it was back for a much-awaited second season, the loyal fans started to binge-watch as soon as the episode dropped on Netflix, leading them to raise questions like: “Can we expect the journey of Lawyer Mickey Haller to continue for a third round?”
These questions are pretty valid after looking at the demand for the show. So, if you’re wondering the same, then you’ve reached the right place to get all your answers! For your convenience, we have listed all the latest updates that have been hinted at by the network or the creators so far. So, it’s time to buckle up and get ready to know all about whether there will be a third season of The Lincoln Lawyer or not.
What is the renewal status of The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3?
As of writing this, the third season of this beloved American legal drama television series, which was created for television by David E. Kelley and developed by Ted Humphrey, and based on the books of Michael Connelly, has not been announced by the network yet, as the brand new second season just premiered all the new episodes on Netflix a few days ago and concluded it’s run on August 3, 2023, making it unreasonable to ask for any early renewal updates for a potential third season.
As a result, it is evidently too soon for any major network to make such a significant statement in such a short period of time. So, the fans should wait for the network to acknowledge this report about The Lincoln Lawyer, which will be disclosed in the near future. Until then, one can only hope and keep their fingers crossed for the best outcome!
Will The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 be renewed?
Even though the current status of the third season is neither here nor there, the signs are pointing toward a big YES! We just may have to wait a while for any confirmation from the network because one of the main reasons for the series not getting an early renewal is the fact that Season 2 just premiered the remaining five episodes of Part 2 in order to complete the full rollout of the second season, which makes it impossible for the streaming platform to evaluate the overall reception before confirming its approval for additional seasons.
Moreover, the network usually requires a proper time frame of at least a month or three to get a brief insight into the viewership, budget allocations, and production process, among other factors that can justify another season before such announcements are made public. Hence, if the show is able to perform remarkably well by maintaining the overall position on Netflix’s top 10 streaming catalog with increased viewership across various regions, then there is a high possibility that the network might decide to renew the show for a third season.
For the time being, the fans should know that the series renewal is at a standstill.
Moreover, the renewal decision will likely come down to whether or not the fans and the creators see if the material is worthy enough to justify another season. On a side note, we are optimistic that the series might get greenlit for a third season, as the second season seems to be heading its way to top the records set by the first season!
As of writing this, the second season holds the record of having 12,600,000 hours viewed, with the season ranking in the Netflix top 10 global list for the last four weeks, which is a great indication that the series is getting fairly good viewership, which has been accounted for by 3,000,000 views on Netflix so far. It is more likely to increase within the next few weeks. Due to this, the next season might be approved!
Hence, we suggest that the readers should be patient and keep a close eye on the social media platforms to get all the details without missing out on any future updates. In the meantime, start binge-watching the first and second seasons, in case you haven’t already! In conclusion, this kind of clears up that there still might be plans for the show’s ultimate return sometime in the future as the books on which the show is based are still left to adapt.
So, the fans are hopeful that the creators still might be considering which novel to adapt next from the collection of Michael Connelly that has been adapted for screens because recently they have hinted that the second season’s finale of The Lincoln Lawyer indicates that the next book that should be adapted is “The Gods of Guilt,” but it depends on Netflix renewing the series and the resolution of the writers and actors strikes.

When will The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 be released if it is renewed?
If the renewal is disclosed within the next few weeks or sometime around this fall season, as Netflix tends to take its time in order to properly evaluate the overall reception from critics and fans, along with viewership of the show, that will justify another season. Then there is a chance that the show might begin its pre-production sometime around late 2023 only if the ongoing WGA strike, along with the SAG-AFTRA strike, are able to reach an agreement beforehand.
Otherwise, it might get delayed with its official release as the parties involved are the writers and actors who are protesting for fair compensation rights within the dual strike, which sadly has put the majority of the Hollywood production houses into a temporary halt for the first time in 63 years, due to this there is no chance that the parties involved will stop protesting anytime soon not until a fair resolution is made!
We are also saddened to report this to our readers, but in the recent meeting, which was held for the first time in more than three months, the Writers Guild and the AMPTP on Friday failed to reach an agreement to resume contract negotiations. After their eagerly awaited meeting to discuss a potential restart of negotiations, they were unable to come to an agreement on the conditions. “As of now, there is no agreement on these items because the AMPTP said they needed to consult with their member studios before moving forward,” the union said in a statement last Friday.
Hence, there is no doubt that this will cause more delays in the development of a third season! So, the chances of the renewal and potential release window will be postponed further as the strikes have once again gained momentum, especially after the meeting did not reach any favorable resolution.
For your consideration, we speculate that if the production commences sometime later this year, then the likely release window might be fixed for sometime around the summer of 2024! At the earliest, we expect to see a third season of The Lincoln Lawyer in Q2 of next year with the same time slot of 12:00 a.m. (PT) or 3:00 a.m. (ET) on Netflix. The change in the release window depends on the duration of the strikes, as they will directly impact the three production stages because the creators surely want to deliver a great show in the legal drama genre.
These factors also make one thing pretty clear there is no way the third season will be premiering on Netflix anytime soon, even if it’s greenlit. Hence, if you want to receive information on the renewal, we urge the readers to enable Netflix’s social media notifications to get all the new updates for The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3.

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 Plot: If renewed, what to expect?
Unfortunately, no details about the third season have been revealed, and everything related to its plot and characters is just pure speculation as the creators might decide to follow the same route and build the story as a continuation for another season with a compelling arc that holds the theme from the prior episodes together without diverting the tale of Mickey Haller, a defense attorney in Los Angeles who works out of a chauffeur-driven Lincoln Navigator rather than an office.
Moreover, the first season of this beloved legal drama was adapted from Connelly’s second novel in the series, called The Brass Verdict, while the follow-up second season was adapted from the fourth, The Fifth Witness.
As we know that each season feels like a standalone story, which is a great sign for its future development, as there are seven books in The Lincoln Lawyer book series, which leaves enough source material for the creators to just pick up another book and adapt it for the next season! In conclusion, the chances of The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 happening are still on the table, and we’ll be shocked if it gets scrapped for some reason.
*Spoiler Alert*
In addition to this, if you have started to stream the new season, then you’ll know that the next season will definitely pick up right where the second season left off! The finale episode, “Bury Your Past,” was directed by Ben Hernandez Bray and written by Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez. In the finale episode, the viewers get to see that on his way to court, Mickey is contacted by Cisco, who tells him Kim’s car was found abandoned and believes Alex Grant had him killed.
Despite this, Mickey gives a convincing argument for Lisa being framed in his closing statement. The jury quickly finds Lisa not guilty. At the office afterward, Elena reveals she got the role and leaves for Calgary, and Mickey agrees to meet Lisa later. Cisco informs Mickey that Kim’s inspection mirror was broken, presumably leaving the shard of glass found at the crime scene. Lorna receives a call from her wedding caterer, who is unable to provide at the time she wants.
That night, Lisa visits Mickey, and they hook up again. The next day, after Mickey receives a check from Henry, Freemann meets him at the office, having been given evidence of Kim’s guilt, and they come to terms, though she also tells him the FBI is investigating Grant for construction fraud. Later, while out with Hayley, he hears music he heard on his first phone call with Jeff Trammell and calls Cisco.
Later that night, after searching, he finds a photo of Lisa’s restaurant staff, including the man who claimed to be Jeff and receives Lisa’s divorce papers from Cisco. The next day, he confronts Lisa about her fake ex-husband and realizes she killed the real Jeff and buried him in her garden when she claimed he left her, and thus refused to sell to Bondurant. She tries to claim Jeff was abusive, but Mickey breaks up with her and leaves, meeting Lorna, who has already called Griggs to investigate.
Afterward, Lorna and Cisco marry at city hall, and the group celebrates at Izzy’s studio. Afterward, Izzy returns Mickey’s keys but asks to still work part-time, which he agrees to. After Hayley leaves, Lorna tells Izzy her suspicions that Lisa sent the men to beat Mickey. Mickey and Siegel have dinner, and Siegel tells Mickey that Grant lost an important project and warns him not to give too much to the job.
As Mickey leaves, he is nearly hit by a car, possibly sent by Grant, and gets a call about a new client arrested for murder, Julian La Cosse. Meeting him, he tells Mickey he was recommended by a friend he supposedly killed whose name Mickey doesn’t recognize. When Mickey goes to identify the body, he finds it is Gloria Dayton. Due to this, the plot of the season has been left on a potential cliffhanger that can be explored further, which makes it one thing obvious that the show’s future just might be safe and more jam-packed entertainment is on the way!
Lastly, we are hopeful that the creators will adapt any other remaining novel, which includes The Reversal, The Gods Of Guilt, The Law Of Innocence, and Connelly’s latest book, Resurrection Walk, as likely jumping-off points for another spectacular season, which will continue the plot in the best way possible for these characters that the fans have grown to love in just two seasons! At last, we’ll just have to wait and see what decision the creators will make to seal the fate of the show, which will be confirmed in a few weeks.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 Cast: Who will reprise their roles?
The main cast members who are speculated to return in the third season are as follows: Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller, a criminal-defense lawyer and recovering addict; Adan James Carillo as young Mickey Haller; Neve Campbell as Maggie McPherson, Mickey’s first ex-wife-and-a-criminal-prosecutor; Becki Newton as Lorna Crane, Mickey’s second ex-wife and his legal aide; Jazz Raycole as Izzy Letts, a former addict, and client of Mickey, now working as his personal driver; and Angus Sampson as Cisco, Mickey’s friend and go-to investigator and Lorna’s fiancé.
The guest stars are subject to change, just as they were during the first and second seasons. On the other hand, the new members who joined the second season can also return, which includes Lana Parrilla as Lisa Trammell, a chef accused of murdering a real estate developer; Yaya DaCosta as Andrea “Andy” Freemann, a formidable criminal prosecutor in Trammell’s case; Matt Angel as Henry Dahl, a true crime podcaster covering Trammell’s case; Angélica María as Elena, Mickey’s mother; and Douglas Bennett as Pete “Kaz” Kazinski, a member of the Road Saints Motorcycle Club.
Of course! There can be some new additions and removals from the cast due to cost-cutting or other varied factors, which ultimately depend on the plot of the third season, and details about them will be disclosed later once renewal is approved.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 Episodes: How many will be there and where to stream?
When the show is renewed, the next season is expected to be consistent with the official episode count and include at least 10 episodes with an average runtime of approximately 45 to 55 minutes that can be divided into two parts, just like the second season. We would like to highlight that the creators of the show can also increase the number if they want to expand further on the series and make a supersized season, which will be confirmed by the network later as the release date draws near.
If you want to receive more information on The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 on Netflix, the viewers may enable notifications on the streaming platform.
For now, we urge the readers to stream the first and second seasons to be up to date with all the plotlines, which are now available to be watched exclusively on Netflix, with other series of the same genre also accessible with a wide range of membership options depending on the package you choose. The basic membership starts at $9.99 per month, and the standard membership starts at $15.49 per month, with no additional cost for any of their services.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 Official Trailer: Has it been released?
As we know, the network has not yet released any new teasers for The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 because the series hasn’t been renewed yet, which might get delayed approval due to the ongoing 2023 Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike along with the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, which hasn’t come to a resolution yet. In the meantime, check out the official trailer for the second season to recall what transpired in the show so far, which has the following official synopsis:
