The outer space always seems to interest us. It captures us in its mystery and wants us to delve into the parts that we have never discovered before. The idea of something unknown to us makes it more thrilling and appealing to us. What if we told you that a comedy series could be spun around the idea of such mystique elements?
Many shows have been made that look at space from various points of view, especially about exploration and the life that lies outside the Earth. What would happen if the Earth came to an end? But here we will be talking about a show that has been coming since 2017 and has had three successful seasons until now.
It is a show that looks at people who are going to space and want to take a journey to look at the future and how they encountered various situations once pushed 400 years ahead. If you have figured out the show, it is Orville that has been coming out for quite some time now. With Season 3 coming to an end long ago, fans are wondering if that is going to be a season 4. Read on to find out what we know about the renewal status of the Orville Season 4.
Is The Orville Season 4 happening?
Hulu and the makers, as well as producers, have constantly hinted at renewal being an open point of discussion. However, the responses are mixed and confusing. David A Goodman, the show’s executive producer, also confirmed how season 3 has been given an open end to allow a season four. But even Jon Cassar or MacFarlane have not been able to answer the question.
The controversy began on October 12, 2021, when the character Kelly Grayson, played by Adrianne Palicki, hinted at season three being the finale and the Orville not returning for a season four. She said, “I’ll miss everyone. That was definitely a family for sure. We spent so much time together on that ship.”
Co-producer and editor Tom Constantino responded, saying that the audience’s response and reaction would decide the need for season four. After this, MacFarlane retweeted the message by Tom, and it was later debunked that the cast had mistaken the show coming to an end so soon.
Post this, in a group interview on February 7, 2022, actors Peter Macon playing Bortus, Mark Jackson playing Isaac, Scott Grimes playing Gordon Malloy, and J Lee playing John LaMarr hinted at how they are ready to return to the sets and begin filming officially. Jackson responded to the elephant in the room, stating, “I don’t think it’s over,” and Grimes added, “If it does amazing on Hulu and the reaction is great, there’s your answer right there.” They all collectively hinted at how MacFarlane wants a season 4.
In another interview, Jon Cassar said the show is definitely not canceled so having a new season can be a reality. The makers hinted at how the same cast shall return for a new season on Hulu Network if it happens but did not hint at an official renewal, cancellation, or a fixed date.
However, the latest interview in March-April 2023 states that the show can be happening, but Hulu Network might not be the one airing it as discussions were underway with Disney Entertainment.
With such ambiguity going around, we need to wait and watch if our favorite show sees a renewal.
