The Sound of Magic, directed by Kim Seong Yoon, is a musical Korean drama, adapted from a webtoon Annarasumanara, that aired on May 6, 2022. As the name suggests, it is about a magician Ryu Min Hyuk who is an eccentric individual with a brilliant mind and charm. He invites Yoon Ah-Yi to his abode as he rescues her from getting sexually abused.

In this story, Yoon Ah-Yi, a student herself is burdened with the responsibility of looking after her little sister. While their mother has left them and their father trying to avoid the debt collectors, our timid protagonist takes up a job after school. The employer tries to take advantage when Ryu Min Hyuk vanishes the boss and saves her life. This marks the beginning of a beautiful companionship between the magician and Ah- Yi.

The six-episode drama has given us a beautiful experience with amazing music and emotional performances. These few episodes had been enough for the viewers to look for more.

Will there be a Season 2 of The Sound of Magic?

As of now, there’s no information on whether the fans will get to see a Season 2 of this magical drama or not. However, given the love the series has received from the audience, we might expect The Sound of Magic Season 2 sooner than later. But all that depends on the makers since it seems that makers have addressed most of the questions in the first season itself.

Even though Yoon Ah Yi had helped him disappear, we are dying out of curiosity as to what happened to him next. The new season can also address some of our queries about Na Il Deung. He, a brilliant student, drops out of school to escape his parents’ expectations. What happened to him next? Also, his and Ah Yi’s probable romantic chances could be elaborated on as well. Also, a few more musical numbers from another season of magic and charm can revive our souls.

In the entire series, Ah Yi’s mother’s presence plays an important role. Maybe she makes an appearance in the second season and we get to see their interaction from a closer lens. Talking about Ah Yi, we are dying to know what she does with her newly acquired skills. All of these questions might kill us unless Season 2 is made.

The viewers’ response has been evidently spectacular. They kept on raving about it on Twitter. While one said ‘…its one of a kind musical that at the end left me in tears of happiness..’, another added, ‘It’s such a great series. I haven’t finished yet but I kept thinking that I want to see this on stage too….I wonder if they gonna adapt it as a real musical too.’

The Sound of Magic Season 1 Recap

The K-drama has only six episodes, which is pretty sad. But the music and the cinematography fulfill you with such satisfaction that you would forget about craving for another season (only for a split second). Season 1 revolves around this pure friendship between the magician and the girl as he invites him to his magical abode of innocence and charm; Yoon Ah Yi gets to relive her childhood, away from the premature burdens of adulthood. Everything is going well when a murder allegation is pinned on the magician.

This time he tries to defend himself. In midst of all these, his magical ability is questioned and in the final scene, we see him disappear with the help of Yoon Ah Yi. Even though we could conclude his magic as real and not cheapskate trickery, the issue has not been cleared by the writer.
